“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

Freedom of speech in full effect here — and FWIW as everyone knows, I don't think doomposting is productive, but if the political situation gets worse and the administration's approvals turn toxic, I fully do expect Musk to get more and more unhinged.

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

Unhinged letters from the US Attorney. Fight fight fight!

We are in serious trouble, folks.

New Post: What do we do about the civil service once the destoyers are gone and we are tasked with rebuilding? Our idea to get the ball rolling. #The13Stripes #NewPatriotism substack.com/home/post/p-...

I appreciate everyone’s messages of support, I’m trying to get through all my mentions but as you can imagine, it’s been a bit of a busy day :) Remember - peaceful civil disobedience, and no kings, no tyrants. Not ever.

A lot of good ideas discussed here.

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

Coercion should be illegal. The proprietors of X should be sued to oblivion and that hellscape banished to the graveyard of Friedster, Google Buzz, Google Plus, Orkut, etc.

We need #DCStatehood, not a takeover that transforms our city into the president's sad, personal little playground.

I've noted some of the procedural things Democrats could be doing in Congress, but this point from @edgeofsports.bsky.social's great piece in the Nation deserves emphasis. This is basic politics, and it's baffling that every Democrat isn't doing it every day. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Our freedom of the press is in serious danger.

Interesting read - 'Conspiracists are about to get a dose of reality' www.thetimes.com/article/b3bb...

repeating myself a bit here but trump can issue an executive order but that doesn’t necessarily mean shit if it doesn’t have a firm statutory basis. if congress lays out in law what the duties of a particular official are, then no, the president can’t decide those duties are something else

Hey, I know her! Time to dig out this old meme I made as advice to lawyers about social media.

Good read. “Dismantling the federal government to prevent that from happening was a key object of the conservative project before Trump. It has remained so with him at the head of the Republican party and will remain so whenever his time is up.” [theguardian.com]

what strikes me most about this piece is that it has no conception that politics is something more than a tug of war of discourse norms.

Wrote about the morally vacuous, strategically unsound (and also wrong!) anti-“woke”diagnosis everyone’s still sticking with, even in the midst of civil rights apocalypse.

Good morning! New post up on the need for Algorithmic Transparency because the internet has become a place that sucks, run by people and machines that suck - substack.com/home/post/p-... #The13Stripes #Technology #TechPolicy

AOC has them sputtering mad because she’s educating people on constitutional rights. You don’t see them freaking out at Jeffries for talking about egg prices.

Interesting data in light of current events. More about welfare queen Elon Musk: www.profgalloway.com/elon-musk-we...

Hey all! First post: Introducing The 13 Stripes. What are we doing here? Calling for New Patriotism. Why? Because everything is collapsing and we need to figure out what comes next. We don't know what the future holds, but we are ready to try and shape it. the13stripes.substack.com/publish/post...

“MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw” Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start

The #2 official at the United States Department of Justice literally gave the Stringer Bell "is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?" warning to the Manhattan prosecutors pursuing the Eric Adams case.

This entire thing is almost comically corrupt

What Donald Trump is allowing Elon Musk and his DOGE team to do is not an audit. It is a coup. This an incredibly dangerous moment—and it is all the more dangerous if people don’t understand what is happening. https://youtu.be/jrE0DOEcbRE

The almost explicit position of these groups is that anything more than a token number of black and Hispanic students in an elite institution is de facto evidence of anti-white racial discrimination.

Build a Wall against everything they try to do. Stop everything. Fight everything. Block everything. It is all illegal.

"Musk will reinvent the US government in the way that the hyperloop reinvented trains, that the Boring company reinvented subways, that Juicero reinvented squeezing. Which is to say he will...offer no solutions beyond those that consolidate his own power and wealth." www.wired.com/story/the-us...

We are in deep, deep trouble.

At least the source of the inevitable cyberattack that cripples all American critical infrastructure will be super easy to find.

broke - Kamala Harris: “i will follow the law when it comes to transgender individuals” woke - Stephen Smith:

No one is safe in Trump's America.

President Elon? President Netanyahu? Who is in charge of the United States and what the hell are they thinking?

This is really astute. www.unpopularfront.news/p/what-happe...

Good. More of this.

Yes. While there are absolutely things Democrats can and must do to slow, obstruct, etc, GOP hold both House and Senate majorities, severely limiting our options. Johnson and Thune are handing over the own keys and relinquishing their own power. Even for the cynics this should be a shock.

Ah, the millennial experience of “every time you get some measure of financial and career stability, the world decides to do something extraordinarily stupid again”

i think this should be factored into how states, counties, localities and hospitals respond to these executive orders. "we will investigate you if you teach DEI." okay, with what agents, specifically? with what state capacity?

they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.
