(2/2) ... massacring civilians and kidnapping others. Jihadists use these new forms of warfare against those they can’t conquer by force. What concerns us here is their capture of elite American schools as outposts."

It's a genuinely deranged piece:
(1/2) "On Sept. 11, 2001, the Islamists of al Qaeda attacked the U.S. in a suicide mission that used American planes as their instruments of destruction. On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas Islamists exploited Israel’s openness by invading the country, ...

That can't be right! The @nytimes.com told me this post was a "rare rebuke of Putin"!

Their definition of a flunkie: "Does the role exist primarily to make one's boss feel more important (e.g. receptionists, assistants, etc.)?"
Someone who has no understanding of why those jobs exists is engaged in an exercise of abject stupidity.

Philip, I'm sorry that you have to share that live feed with some willfully obtuse and uninspiring thinkers.

yeah, the behavior of the admin settings is inconsistent between the two settings
1) If "gender" is unchecked the gender option appears on myaccount.google.com/profile but with the "lock" icon and can't be edited
2) If "pronouns" is unchecked, the pronouns setting just doesn't appear at all.

Looks like it's still available as an option in Workspace. I've never touched these settings before, so can't tell you if they were always off or if this is a recent development.

This is what the admin control panel looks like -- I think your Workspace admin has this setting disabled (mine was disabled by default, I think).

So when you see these results saying 14,000 adults and 1500 infants have died from the PEPFAR suspension, know that Luke Farritor and Gavin Kliger are the people who made those deaths happen. Luke Farritor and Gavin Kliger.

@kenwhite.bsky.social is there any validity to this take that this is an infringement on the right to legal counsel?

Yeah, I think I agree with your point -- make the government do good stuff and then tell everyone it's happening.
But the guy in the screenshot knows the govt does (some) good stuff. He just wants to save the service he knows and likes and gut the stuff that helps other people.

This guy isn’t just mad the post office is annoying. He’s experienced the “family gets healthcare from the govt” strategy and he’s still been brain-poisoned.
comment in response to

I’m really not sure some hypothetical full throated defense of the government is going to persuade a guy who can’t connect the dots between the value of his father’s government provided healthcare and the value of government itself.

Can we add to the list of demands “no court orders ignored”?

(7/7) I look forward to a response that acknowledges and addresses the urgency of the situation and the senator's commitment to acting accordingly.
comment in response to
post
(6/7) Now that has happened, the senator's constituents are demanding he use the power given to him by his constituents to stymie their abhorrent actions, and not find opportunities to be collegial with his buddies. Regular order in the senate cannot be allowed to continue.
comment in response to

(5/7) Allowing unanimous consent or normal business to continue in the senate is an abrogation of the power the senator has. It does not meet the moment. The democrats campaigned on the fact that a nazi was at risk of ascending to power.

(4/7) The executive branch is currently ignoring the constitution: By fiat, they are disbanding legislatively created agencies and vetoing legislatively required spending.

(3/7) Frankly, it misses the point and is an offensive waste of time. Senator Schiff has one of the safest seats in the country. He has significant political power that he should wield.

(2/7) in these opening days of the Trump administration.
The form response is wildly insufficient. It shows no understanding of the moment we're in, or the action that is being asked of him.

I received the same dud of a form letter.
This is the reply I have sent to @adamschiff.com @schiff.senate.gov:
(1/7) Myself and other constituents have received the same form response from Senator Schiff about our concerns about how he is handling the nomination process and his responsibilities
