What on earth needs to be done to reverse this?? Weather affects absolutely everyone, regardless of politics. Where is the outrage among the republicans that voted this administration?? Do they even realize when a line is crossed anymore…

I’ve been watching too much White Collar. This seems like a totally normal event.

This makes me so incredibly depressed. Grew up in Texas and this new political/educational landscape is so different from what I experienced and was taught.

I’ve worked in parts of the world where exfoliation is at play instead of deposition. Does that happen here?

While I’m not thrilled at the prospect of doing the work to find that ‘more that unites us than divides us’ harmony, I also think shutting them out and calling them awful has made our society and our relationships worse overall. I’m resentful and frustrated and angry. But I think I’m going to try.

Problem is, the losers of an election don’t go away. We saw this after the last election. Trump supporters knew they were disliked and it didn’t change their minds, it hardened them. They didn’t see the light or soften, they just turned inward and organized and, I worry, got smarter. Got to planning

I think it’s going to take an organization helping consumers just KNOW these things without thinking about it too much. I’m never sure what I can or can’t recycle, for example. When I lived in the UK that info was plastered everywhere by the government. No thinking needed, better recycling outcome.

Agreed. I would so appreciate an organization that told us concrete ways to reduce our waste and helped like organize polls or letters to companies telling them we consumers would LOVE for them to stop using styrofoam or single use plastic. None exist that are in our lives in a big, consistent way.

My initial reaction was wondering if the NYT publishes things like this knowing its readers will balk and entrench further into their more left leaning worldview. Any validity to that? Or have I just become too suspicious of being manipulated…

Seconded!! Used to live in the UK and love their comedy/panel shows. Taskmaster, QI, Travel Man, WILTY, GBBO... Often normal looking comedians just talking and it’s so delightful. It’s hard to switch back to watching American shows. Our more expensive and good looking tv falls flat by comparison.
