This thread alone makes it worthwhile signing up to Bluesky.

He told us that Scottish people faced arrest for praying privately in their own homes. Not sure how much truth is in that. Suspect 0%.

But surely it's a far bigger story that Musk tweets are shaping the UK political agenda?

The problem with 'other countries' argument is that most other European countries also have universal ID cards, so there's no extra barrier to voting.

Glad you're here. You're one of our favourite media commentators on TV, getting across your points with warmth, humour and insight, and engaging positively with different viewpoints.

As part of the farming debate, would be great to see something, anything, about the farm workers pay and conditions. They are the people actually producing the food.

Should we be giving people tax breaks to allow them to work for less than minimum wage? Isn't this just a subsidy for uneconomic activity?

Isn't that the Elizabethan line?

Dartford tunnel distance markers in yards instead of metres - totally transformed my life.

Years ago, we visited a Borders bookshop in a small retail park opposite our hotel, just 50 yards away. Crossed the 4 lane highway (no pedestrian crossing, naturally), then had to dodge traffic the retail park, where none of the drivers expected mad foreigners to be walking on their road.

Surely regulation is pretty helpless against extreme wealth. Suppose UK passes laws to fine foreign donors for illegal political contributions - billionaires will just regard any fine as petty cash.

Laws don't really work for billionaires. Musk can give $100 million and pay a $50 million fine - it's petty cash to him.

The American right just do what they want anyway - e.g. Supreme Court judge appointments near the end of a presidential term.

In a restaurant there, I tried repeatedly to explain that I didn't want dressing on a salad. There was a choice of 3 dressings, but 'no dressing' wasn't an option. Eventually we compromised, and I got thousand-island dressing on a side-dish.

What happens if China turns off their bit of the supply chain for a while (maybe a bit like OPEC in the 70's)? China doesn't have a voting public to worry about, so could they afford to strike back like this, or am I just talking nonsense?

If we're so concerned about fairness for those producing our food, why isn't there any discussion of working and living conditions of the agricultural workers who actually pick our food?

It's a great article for euphemisms like the following. "Sometimes Clarkson makes claims that are hard to substantiate" . "Clarkson allegedly left the BBC in a steak-related incident".

Agree. I wish 24 hour news spent more time on background, facts and policies, rather than covering politics like a football commentary.

I remember how the media stopped reporting on the UK fishing industry after we left the EU. I wonder why?

I can accept reality, but would prefer a better reality!

Dmitry Grozoubinsky - informative and entertaining on trade/politics realities. Alex Andreou for big picture insight and geniality/humour. Jennifer Williams (FT)- transport policy (non-London!).

And if you put them everywhere, you'll then be able to know whether a) they don't really work or b) you can stop lots of people getting sick.

Your book really shines a light onto government, and you managed to do it in a politically neutral way.

Won't they do Rwanda2, pay a shed load of money to this company upfront, then decide it's all too difficult?

Just as importantly, pro-Trump tweeters to abuse anyone who criticises Trump. I certainly wouldn't risk posting any criticism of Trump on Twitter.

You are our favourite TV reporter in our family because you genuinely engage and consider interviewees responses (not 'gotcha') so Blue sky should suit your approach more than twitter- far less abusive and/or misogyny here. V.good to see you here.

Twitter is way too noisy, but here seems more quieter (so less mad stuff which can be entertaining). Obviously, the solution is to follow more accounts, but many journalists aren't on here yet. Confused how Blue sky 'Discover' thinks I like baseball.
