Can you say any more at this stage?

Definitely trending in the right direction. But they’re still complicit in not reporting news like the UN’s intervention. I don’t see how any news outlet can justify that as not being of significant interest to the public.

This is very much how it seems to me too. I feel he will unashamedly U turn on his treatment of trans people as soon as he thinks it will serve his own position better to do so. I’d welcome that result of course, but would be under no illusion of him having developed a sense of empathy.

However we’ve surely crossed the Rubicon now - even for the most cautious in the left of the party?

And I actually think she would have already made a move if not for the fact that we’ve come off the back of PM musical chairs over the last few years. Politically it’s embarrassing for the new government to do the same - so there will be a reluctance in the PLP for this reason.

I’ve had a feeling she’s been making moves for a while - she’s been pretty quiet on Labour’s more right wing policies. I think and hope that her relative silence is a sign she’s not on board with the shift to the right. Cabinet collective responsibility means she won’t publicly criticise.

Might be interesting to add a column in your database table for current movement/direction. I’d say the guardian is trending towards neutral, but not there yet.

Will be voted on today. Wonder if it’s been leaked deliberately by the Labour right to gauge reaction, or by somebody on the left hoping to use the reaction to deter them. If it gets voted down that will be very significant, but probably unlikely given the direction of the NEC recently.

It’s amazing she’s got time to commission a poll when the papers contact her for a comment every time a trans person casts a shadow.

And here I was assuming it was Joanne Karen Rowling.

Which bigot will we reach out to for a quote? Heads Forstater, tails Joyce? Ok…..heads it is.

Under Baroness Falkner’s leadership, the commission has shown a disturbing tendency to prioritise the views of groups whose primary, and apparently only, purpose is to oppose trans inclusion. Groups such as Sex Matters, LBG Alliance, etc.

“Groups whose primary, and apparently only, purpose is to oppose trans inclusion”? With a list of the usual suspects?

It would be good to have some nicely worded objection to their preference to collaborate with hate groups. But not sure how best to make that land, since the hate groups aren’t formally recognised as hate groups in the UK - so it’s too easy to dismiss if stated directly.

Assuming there will be allowance for general comments somewhere in the response, it’s probably worth gathering a bullet point list of suggested areas. E.g. feeling profound concern at the prospect of the EHRC mandating exclusion which is antithetical to its reason for existing.

It must be wild having a direct line to get yourself in the Telegraph/Mail/Times with whatever fever dream pish you wake up with every day.

He almost ended up in a different red category when I told my wife yesterday “I’m sweating like Gary Lineker in PC World” after mowing the lawn in the sun. Obviously I meant Gary Glitter 😂

And they interpret the 52% as being a homogenous group of hard Brexit voters in general. We know this is nonsense because a variety of Brexit visions were “sold”, certainly including remaining in the single market and customs union as an option.

But LGBTQ+ rights literally don't encroach on anyone else's rights or liberties. They might encroach on others' prejudices, but the way to overcome that is education.

Again, for a full day last week they had a sports item on the front page of BBC News about a teenage cis girl who had been disciplined for transphobic remarks demanding an apology from the FA. Even though her punishment had already been overturned on procedural reasons. Balance though.

These long promised lawsuits will be happening any day now. Honest. Definitely not made up.

I always feel it’s based on the oversimplification that a democracy = majority rules. Democracy doesn’t mean every decision is based on a committee of the entire population, clearly. And equally clearly, deciding minority issues by majority opinion is doomed to regress minority rights.

I’m kind of expecting her to resign her ministerial position and challenge Starmer for leadership on a platform of returning the party to a progressive left of centre stance. I do think she’d have enough support in the PLP and the membership. To me it’s a matter of when not if this happens.

Let me summarise the last decade of British politics for you. Brexit came along and took a huge shit on the carpet. It pointed at it and said “immigrants and trans people did that”, and the UK press and political parties nodded. 👍🏻

And it goes on… here they once again fail to describe the reality of the case. She wasn’t suspended for complaining about the changing room arrangements. She was suspended for harassing and bullying a transgender colleague. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I think (hope) that they’ve made the mistake of believing their own press.

The BBC’s version of balance is incredible. Zero news about the peer reviewed Cass critique. Zero news about legal action against the EHRC. But one girl demanding an apology from the FA because she had been “right” to harass a trans player was linked on the front page of the news website for a day.

I’m daring to be optimistic at the moment too. I think there are signs that things are changing. Unfortunately changing the momentum is a bit like turning an oil tanker - but it feels like it may just be beginning to turn. Zero room for complacency though.

Such a “difficult” decision facing them now. Do they: A: double down B: apologise and change direction

Absolutely heartbreaking. Thank you for all you do.
