Sweden has gone ahead and passed their draconian "Nordic Model" bill criminalizing online creator content.
As of July 1, consumers who purchase an OnlyFans clip, a cam show or other creator content will be subject to arrest and a year in prison
All in order to "protect" women from exploitation.

“While viewing and paying for pre-recorded content remains legal, the law targets live, commissioned interactions, which lawmakers argue blur legal and ethical lines”
It feels like a pilot test run for the US to copy.
Only joking. We know the answer.
- bunch of men who look like a potato and who all access porn without paying
But seriously, fuck everyone who favored this shit.
They think women can't consent to sex work
The people pushing for this here and mostly women. Hell, when a known feminist was doing OnlyFans she was mostly criticized by other feminists

Oh, also using the phrase "sex work" makes you a bad person.
That ain't cool with me, is that cool with you?
Google, "Only Fans underage", I'll wait here.
And this discussion is not about minors. Its about adults. If you know about any criminal behaviour involving minors then you should notify the relevant authorities.
OF is garbage at protecting the most vulnerable, ban it everywhere.
Protecting children being used 20-30x a day for "performances" online is a good thing.
Find a tech solution, and a legislative solution will follow.
This is the fault of companies like OF.
I'm not a fan of the site, but I believe in you do you but safely.
This doesn't do that it just takes away agency.
Whoever made this is just a salty bitch who can't get over "her"
"paying for pre-recorded content remains legal, the law targets live, commissioned interactions, which [...] blur legal and ethical lines. [...] Carvalho [...] pointed to documented links between online exploitation, human trafficking, [...] into more severe forms of prostitution."
and yes, focus on "live, commissioned interactions". you can still do porn.
That did not go anywhere AFAIK (maybe @pion-norge.bsky.social knows mor, besides making radfem scum shriek like hell, but there's some hope "nordic model" will become TeISM*
*Texas, Israel, Sweden Model
OF is literally the safest form of sex work because OF workers don't usually work under a studio, a pimp, or actually engage in sex with clients.
Someone making a vid and charging people to watch afterwards it is no issue.
I think it's dumb; it's naive, but I do understand what it is they want to prevent.
(I'm Swedish, so I've read a bit about it the last few months.)
This wasn't one of those occasions.

This is not true. However, if they can be proved to have participated in the sexual exploitation, they can be prosecuted. Which is good, because the spouses of exploited women are often violent.
Oooo the scary porn will surely stop existing if you stand between women and their money. There isn't a wide spanning world history of sexual violence, slavery and exploitation 🙄
So, they want to prevent content creators from being in control, and force- So they have zero concept of how any of this works in practice, and want to-
Everything is stupid. Everywhere.
"While viewing and paying for pre-recorded content remains legal, the law targets live, commissioned interactions"
Its not even a good lie on the part of the Swedish government.
That's my understanding, from reading about it in Swedish news sources for some time.
I don't like it btw, it's not going to help.
Still just a normal consensual business transaction that's now criminalised for no sane reason
I agree if the women are running its whatever. But there's definitely a dark side making a lot of money, even top 1% have had serious allegations of abuse
It criminalizes the spouses of sex workers, roommates and even their landlords.
It leave SWs homeless, without family and support.
This FORCES women to get pimps.
It’s about people who buy sex not people who sell sex
If it is not legal to *buy* then the SW cannot sell, which means they now have no income and have to turn to illegal channels to buy food.
Also, rich for a NSFW artist to go "its fine (because it doesn't affect me and my sales)", lol. Utterly self absorbed.
This right here is an example of a Sweden Creating a possible Black Market in the Making!!
Kinda like the US, but so far not quite as bad. 🤷♂️
Expect more and worse from this lot.
(I know it is just a small thing, and I do advocate for riots, we know what equality is and I do hope people can stand for it when it is being taken away)
Most Swedish parties — including the right-wing ones — love to criminalize more and more things in order to advance the state’s power over the public.
There are unfortunately no political party that I see is against this ruling.
Its so terrible 💀
As in, it's fine to sub view and use Onlyfans. ONLY "purchasing sex" also called "do this and I'll give you money" is illegal.
It probably just does nothing, but it has the possibility of making couples illegal on Onlyfans (probably not but a judge would need to decide)

As with all "Nordic model" legislation, it actually takes away independence and agency and requires sex workers to work through third-parties.
You can't buy Memberships/Sub when a Creator goes live if you buy it with a Credit card. Only if a creator goes offline.
If you buy Subs/Memberships online you will be punished or in Jail if you do, it's because it's now Illegal!!! 🤦
That makes zero sense…
If you pay to control the contents, it will be illegal with the new law. If you just buy what the creator has produced by their own choice, then it's still legal.
And it’s “pre-recorded” if a clip.
Unless it’s a live cam thing, that might be the only gotcha.
But rather than give sex workers actual legal rights, antiporn activists forcibly removed ability to pay rent. Which, uh, never leads to exploitation.
The "offline" Nordic Model (going by the "Equality Model" and falsely claiming it was "decriminalizing" sex work) went into effect in Maine last year.
Doesn't matter if it's FOSTA-SESTA, Nordic Model, Equality Model.
Why else would you criminalize the purchase of a video that carries no penalty if you watch on a pirate site?
