With tiny, tiny hands! Oh so tiny, that one ukulele playing entertainer, that had "Tiny" in his stage name, even exclaimed as much to Trump when he met him!
I’m kinda ready after this last year, and so tired of waking up at 2:00 A.M. trying to cry quietly so as not to wake my husband. Oh the joy we could have had.
"We still have 10 to the power of 78 years before it happens — that's a one with 78 zeroes”. Compare to the current age of the universe, (~ 13 to the power of 9 years).
Unless I did the math wrong (*easy* to do!), that means that the universe will last 13.6 billion times what it already has.
Hawking postulated in the mid-1970s that black holes leak radiation, slowly dissolving like aspirin in a glass of water — giving them a finite lifetime.
The Radboud scientists extended this to other objects in the universe, calculating that the "evaporation time" depends on density. ->
And that's how science works. That one scenario - black holes, might apply to other objects, such as a white dwarf. And if this is true, then everything evaporates in the end, not just black holes.
I suffered childhood exposure to the Evangelical Nut Bin where my head was filled with Tales of the Apocalypse. I vote for Sunday. God grant them the glory.
I’m gonna be real this is pretty hyperbolic
Like I get that stars are gonna die and stuff but I’m pretty sure matter is gonna react with each other (plus the radiation is leaking out not dissolving)
Did they happen to mention a date? I would put on a wedding gown, crack open a bottle of the finest champaign, put out the lawn chairs and watch the show. Kind of the same thing i would do for a 20min nuclear missile warning or a wandering black hole that enters the solar system. "Dust in the Wind"
Thanks to old white men I'm sorry but I am really starting to hate old white men they are ruining it for the rest of us.
Not all of you,but a fucking ton lot of you refuse to let us evolve and you guys suck ass.
…just shortly after you die, since you won’t be able to sense the passing of time, and when compared with eternity…just a moment, a drop in the bucket of time
My thoughts when the news passed by me yesterday, don't read the article, it's depressingly far off still. It's been raining here and when I woke up this am to bright lights I hoped it was from an alien spaceship landing to take me away!
I'll put it on my calendar, but it'll probably be during working hours and I don't think my corporate overlords would take kindly to me letting something personal like the end of the universe affect their bottom line...
‘Sooner’ in universe time scales does not include the human race - we’ll all be long gone bc we and other flora and fauna will be part of this 6th extinction that only just began about 50 years ago.
I don’t know how to put this into words so I hope people will understand.
I like thinking about the life of the universe relative to that of a person. At that scale, the universe is barely a couple milliseconds old.
Alas … they only considered black hole evaporation as ‘the end’. We’ll have to wait much much longer until Black Dwarf Stars decay and go nova. Sigh. I hate waiting. :(
I am so sorry that some people got irritated with my post "that death is not the end". Well, we live in a universe where you can think and believe whatever you want. And, in your view of everything, you are of course correct. I follow the principle of παντα ῥεῖ which coincides with new physics...
The point here is not about an afterlife. I never mention that. You are giving the wrong interpretation.
And yes, we do know the principle that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. Therefore, we know in that case what is next.
I think there are instinctive worries in everyone's mind that whatever comes next is not better than this, and perhaps worse. Those already exhausted of the way this new century brings the vivid detail of all human suffering to us day and night... they may feel like oblivion offers some relief.
In the end, compassion is a good trait to exercise. But if there were nothingness and total oblivion, what's the point of having a reality. You might as well give up now.
Didn’t like that movie first time. Probably because I’d read it was a “Dr Strangelove” for our times. Then I rewatched it and realized that’s exactly what it is.
All we have is this moment, right now.
I just try to be fully here. It’s difficult.
That said, I’m still going to feel damned foolish when it’s over, realizing the time wasted on worry when I ignored the moment, and lived in a future of my imagination.
Uh... Man you really need to learn how cosmic scales of time work. Even past that, the universe will keep chugging for trillions, in not quadrillions of years
I graduated from university with a secondary degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics. I have an understanding of the time involved in the universe. But it is true, Andromeda is going to crash into the Milky Way. Not like a car crash, but a slow burn. Galaxies don't move that fast relative to space.
My... Fucking bad man. I am aware that will happen, I thought you were implying that all of reality will break down with those two galaxies colliding when... No.
Oh hells no. Those two galaxies are merely two among billions of other galaxies. Scale is the thing. Did you know the largest star we've been able to identify is VY Canis Majoris. If you took that star and put it in the center of our solar system, the star would extend past Saturn. That's big.
I've seen that several times today and everywhere I see it they all say the same thing, which is interesting. If we didn't have a felon for president maybe we wouldn't be so eager to die?
Well, I can only hope that we will discover the immortality serum before that so everyone can experience it together!!! Huzzah for anyone who waited for IRL "Bar at the end of the Universe" from Hitchhikers book type stuff!!!
I have to get my cats to the vet's so could we hold off until I can get them in? Because even if the universe ends, cats WILL survive and find other universes to explore! I want them to be healthy for the exploration! 🥰🤣🤣
that is dark AF, but if you want to live that way you go do you Nash, see how fast you are left to your own devices to deal. It's🚫easy being alone, being ignored, 🚫easy screaming your mind. It is easier aside form the spiritual bull like toothaches, falling off a bed 3 times and one was recent.@41

I do! 😊

No shit ya'll have to adjust your calculations, that was specifically for black holes, not white dwarf stars.

Ah, 2.8 billion years. I was afraid I'd heard 1.8 billion.

I’m white
No god
No money
Compassion rocks
I like coffee
I like cats
If you come for me you will feel the sweet sting

I hate vagueposting of this caliber.
Anyways...
There money and power grabbing will go like the rest of us.

Quasars that happened billions of years ago, outshine galaxies.
I am well aware of the scales of some things, it's why I was confused, but I just misunderstood your statement
They will do their own version "extending science"
Like are you fucking immortal or something??
Hahahaha
Just think how much quicker it will be if the human species is able to roam about and shit all over it like it does its own planet.
