Governor Andy Beshear (D-Kentucky) on Kristi Noem's call to eliminate FEMA: "The states cannot do what FEMA does without duplicating certain tasks 50 times over. If you've got an operation that's running well, work with it, improve it, don't eliminate it."

I'm tired of giving ungrateful red states generous allowance with my exorbitant blue state taxes.
I won't be paying them until Trump regime is gone or my state secedes.
Any chance we could win a lawsuit against the US govt.?
(rhetorical question)
Which Republicans will grow spines? 👀
FEMA has always been on chopping block, they just threw it out there to distract from National Security Breach of EPIC proportion! They are trying to distract from the need for someone to be FIRED!
National agencies like FEMA operate on a similar principle: "The resources of the many cover the losses of the few."
Trump wants: "The resources of the few cover the losses of the many." It won't work.
But they do far more; ie, they expedited social security to get me a new card so I could get a JOB. things like that are priceless
cruel pompous heartless bitch 🐩
And those are her good points
Any money that this State gets for disasters (the people) would be misappropriated or end up in the wallets of dishonest pols.
Make FEMA structurally sound. Do not eliminate FEMA.
Ambulance driver, Bulldozer operator, Lineman in a bucket, Weatherperson, Dump truck driver, so many!!!
FEMA fragrance coming soon. Smells like incompetence.
I'm not sure they thought this through...

We're volunteer disaster relief workers and have seen some things
FL: Has received the most FEMA funds, with over $2.5 billion from 2015 - 2024.
LA: $1.4 billion 2015 to 2024.
TX: over $1.3 billion 2015 to 2024

The hubris is strong among them...
Remember when Trump railed on Joe when Helene hit
Well now the wild fires 🔥 are consuming acreage
Pickens SC and NC
When regional disasters strike local resources may be damaged or inadequate for the scale of a disaster
FEMA is irreplaceable for coordinating nationwide mutual aid. Noem has no experience in incident command or crisis management
- and they are becoming more intense, which of course means MORE damage and a longer cleanup time frame, then there are tornados and earthquakes to deal with.
Sounds like fun times ahead.
God Bless MAGA
Most blue states put in more to FEMA than they get in return.
50 states, a federal district (Washington, D.C., the capital city of the United States), five major territories, and various minor islands. [2][3] Both the states and the United States as a whole are each sovereign jurisdictions.
Key words "as a whole"
She’s like a sponge -filled with cement.
She's depraved.
Everyone only cares about the cute animals.
Certain unpredictable local events CANNOT be handled by individual states.

Look at Western NC still trying to recover from the catastrophic flooding last year.
California and New York can stop donating funds for FEMA to a centralized pool and just fund their own emergency cleanups. Poor states cannot do that easily.

Just @askcobundle.bsky.social and we’ll help answer any questions.
The bulk of emergency management should be borne by local and state agencies in the affected areas.
FEMA should be a resource, not a manager.
