I know the general perception is that hockey is a game for fighting, but picking fights because you’re a global pariah is clown shit. We’re a country of clowns and we prove it every day.

All the fights were between players from rival teams. 1st panther vs lightning; 2nd was because brother faught in 1st fight; lastly was because Miller is an ass
As a Canadian, not really surprised. A lot of MAGA are treating this as a game, the same way they treat politics as a sports team. Even some well meaning Americans seem to treat it as a joke.
Canadians are not booing the team, and Americans winning the game won't make us stop booing or boycotting.
The Tkachuk boys didn't start fights because the US is a global pariah; they started fights because they're the Tkachuk boys. Look up what their dad did in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.
I was just thinking about this—the Winter Olympics are in 2026. We need to start appealing to the International Olympics Committee to ban all flags from competition venues, and to eliminate flags & national anthems from ceremonies. Let’s celebrate amazing athletes and refrain from uber nationalism.
Bullies. They worship bullies and wealthy people because they feel powerless and aren’t smart enough to realize or introspective enough to to investigate why they feel powerless.
There’s a very “Thank you sir, may I have another” vibe to the POC who support MAGA. What is that? Somebody needs to do some real in depth reporting on this mindset.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to lecture me about them being pre-planned or having nothing to do with the national anthems. My post had nothing to do with whether they were or weren't, or whether fighting in hockey is good or bad. Save your sanctimony for someone else, please.
That person is making shit up, it was the Tkachuks and JT Miller deciding in advance that they were going to set the tone of the game by starting fights, probably with a bit of in-state rivalry going on between Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel in the mix too.
I agree with the sentiment and the Tkachuks are good players, but modern NHLers are all big on doing things to cement a "legendary" status with their peers. Listen to interviews outside of game broadcasts and it's a large portion of what they talk about. These fights were a stunt. Nothing more.
They didn't pick fights because they're a global pariah, trust me. These were player vs. player. Bad blood, old rivalry. This guy is just stirring shit up.
So basically the only way they can win is by playing dirty with no respect for fellow players, and no real skill in the game they disgrace with their behaviour. And the hockey team is just as bad!
(to clarify for people who don't know, the logic of a hockey fight is either that one dude lays another out, or else the one who manages to fall on top of the other at the end is "the winner")
I can appreciate the sentiment but Americans need to hear the negative reinforcement right now. We’re not a very bright people and would just be confused about the intention.

Now we are Germany and I don't really care who is offended by that.
Act like Nazis, quote Nazis, emulate Nazis policies and defend Nazi salutes get called a Nazi.
