I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
And the sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon's gonna owe it one
Linkin Park- Place for My Head
We will probably exterminate ourselves long before the sun has a chance to do so. If not ourselves, any number of unforeseen and unknown circumstances may take us out. Our tenancy on this insignificant little rock is tenuous and fragile.
It's literally always trying to murder us. The earth set boundaries and the sun is always overcoming them. I don't think it's a healthy relationship at all, lol.
Reminds of that one Linkin Park song, "but the sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming, the moon's gonna owe it one" I think it was from "A Place For My Head". Beautiful words nonetheless though
I liked Linkin' Parks version:
I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
And sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon's gonna owe it one
In 10 billion years it will either blow the Earth into scorched chunks or push it into the coldness of the outer solar system. The sun loves nothing. It's just plasma. It's a slow fusion bomb destined to expand and shrink a few times before fading away.
The Sun doesn’t even know the Earth is here. It barely acknowledges Jupiter’s existence. So we can steal all the light from it we want without a guilty conscience.
The Ancient People, our predecessors, knew this in their soul. We have become disconnected from this unifying knowledge. But I believe we are slowly returning to it with every post like yours. Thank you.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
That’s because only 0.00000005% of the sun’s energy actually reaches earth. That would be like Musk tossing you a dime every year and expecting a favour.
Because every now and again, the sun sends out a flare that totally messes with Earth. And other times, its gravity sends a comet in to screw with it. That's the price you pay for being in orbit.
What’s false? What did the earth say when you asked? The earth would still be here without humans. We have nothing to do with it besides draining the supplies.

So, you don’t think the solar radiation that the sun pounds the earth with- our only protection being our thin atmosphere, isn’t like the Mob saying, “you gotst a beautiful place here, it would be a shame if it boiynt down, eh?”
That's okay, in a few billion years the sun will absorb all the inner planets and earth will be all like "hey, no take backs!" and the sun will be like "DIE VERMIN".
Isn't the sun one day going to blow up turn into a black hole, and swollow everything on earth? maybe people should talk about their issues so that dose not happen

And the sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming

Well this analogy is problematic if you are trying to suggest people should operate this way. In a healthy relationship, there is a complementarity where both people give something. Relationships where one gives so much more than the other end up with bitterness and resentment and break up.
"Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī, or simply Rumi, was a 13th-century poet, Hanafi faqih, Islamic scholar, Maturidi theologian, and Sufi mystic originally from Greater Khorasan in Greater Iran." Google quotes by Rumi and enjoy.
Looks like it is not a Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī, quote nor Hafez, quote either. Whoever made it, whenever, wherever, made something beautiful that lasted through times of history.
“THE SUN NEVER SAYS Even
After
All this time
The sun never says to the earth, “You owe
Me.” Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the
Whole
Sky.”
― Hafez, The Gift: Poems by Hafiz, the Great Sufi Master, translated by Daniel Ladinsky
Love the sentiment altho I can't say the Earth & Sun feel any love toward each other—they exist & help each other without even knowing how important they are to each other for life forms they are not invested in to exist. When the Sun dies, which it eventually will, it probs won't care about Earth

*That was the footer poem on my website 20 yrs ago.
Coleman once told me he was upset that his Hafiz & Rumi books were on the NYT best seller lists.
It *was* ridiculous at the time.
People have awaken since then.
TY 4 posting. 🙏💜🩵💙

Given time, all things take their cut.
A nice sentiment, but ultimately hollow.

The moon's gonna owe it one

Sun: "When I hit my mid-life crisis, you'll be the third one I kill."
I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
And sun doesn't give light to the moon assuming
The moon's gonna owe it one
"How do you fly in this gravity of darkness ?"
And she replied "Love lifts me"
One of my favorites of his.
That they see it tomorrow..
At midsummer before the dawn an orange light returns to the mountains
Like a great weight and the small birds cry out
And bear it up

I was born on one.
It was very hot.
It burnt my bot.
Siriusly I’m not lying.
And my star is not dying.

Except at nighttime. Men Rule, under the Sun. Women, under the Moon. Women Nurture. Men Destroy.
