Named after Kicking Horse Pass, which is where TransCanada Hwy crosses the continental divide (also BC-Alberta border).

And the pass is named after a horse that kicked his owner, explorer James Hector, in 1850s.

It doesn’t take great effort to help people do the right thing, only the will to speak up. Normally on Fridays at my work we have afternoon coffee. When Starbucks was suggested I said if that was the case, I would opt out. That was all it took to start the conversation and change minds.

In 2002, hubby and I went to Costa Rica. During a stay in the mountains, we found a wonderful little local coffee shop. On the lower border of their menu board, they had lettered, "Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks." Still one of my favorite travel memories.

Kicking Horse has several dark roasts that are excellent. Kick Ass is usually considered their best / most popular dark roast.

You could also check out Full Steam coffee. Not sure if they deliver to the US, but I've had them and they're amazing. They have medium, dark, and espresso specific roasts.

People (I used to be one of them) like their sugary drinks and the novelty of flavour combos you can create. Once you experience your first sugar-free flat white made with good properly ground beans, it's noticeably bad. Mine was in Vietnam and upon return, most chain coffee places turned my stomach

I’m surprised Nestle paid for it considering all the water they’ve been stealing for decades. They leave entire areas for dead. I have been telling every place I go to that has nestle products for year. Even my own town is ‘sponsored’ by nestle as the city has set up their means to take our water.
