Twitter Spaces pretty much killed Clubhouse
Because Clubhouse was pretty much a feature and not a product, and it had huge Trust and Safety issues
A fine example that a large free user base is very hard to monetise especially when the product is essentially unimportant.
Twitter might have been able to introduce a paid tier, but the stick and stick approach of Someone wasn't going to fly.

What you are experiencing on Twatter is what it was like for GC women in 2018. And I agree it's rubbish.
I remain on both platforms but find this place much happier and more thoughtful to be honest.
