between this and “weird” I really think Tim Walz has more of a finger on the pulse of what people want in a Trump response than just about anyone else and I wish they’d unleashed him a bit more

I WANT AN EDIT BUTTON PLEASE
Kamala Harris made a fucking brilliant choice in picking a running mate who didn't see her as a step up the ladder, but as someone he loved to elevate, whose significance he understood.
Will he run for Pres in 8 years? Maybe? Maybe not.
When Harris picked him, I heard a lot of about how she should have picked Shapiro, or Kelly. Both have stronger stereotypical Dem resumes. But neither was going to tap that Midwest sympatico; they were just more disconnected elites.
Walz hits home in the Midwest. That can win this.
Robert Ray set the standard for moderate, conscientious Midwest Republicans. And I'm furious at how badly they've corrupted his legacy.
He's just lived the life. And that makes him relatable.
Let Walz be Walz. We wanted him for a reason. He relates for a reason.
Would feel somewhat better about this election.
"Vote while booing!"
-First guy's monocle falls off-
He had said it was a particular weakness, and he hadn’t done any national level debates before, and JD is just the kind of slick douchebag that can debate well in that kind of formal setting
So I don’t think his framing talents were *entirely* missed because he was off the trail. I imagine he was still giving feedback to the campaign.
But he’s really good at it, yea. I wish he was out more
I sortof imagine that that was the bargain Harris struck w/her advisors to bring him in
"Fine, but give him to USss—just to smooth the edges"
It's the stuff that gets you local press, and that matters in a tight campaign, even if most folx never see it.
She had to introduce herself and her plans to the American public and stay on message
For the final lap Walz has been loose and very Walzian
That at least aligns with what he's said about debates. I've never watched him do another one.
A muted microphone wouldn't have meant shit.
Like I mean he will follow her lead and not undermine her by going off script, but she picked a guy with his exact skills for that job and is gonna let him use them. I think we get a whole lot more of calling out dipshits.
Of course, 60-year-olds Walz and Harris were smart enough to run with it.
I salute the young punk who wrote that!
It's sad, to be honest, that the D officials and consultants tamped him down, trying to turn him into yet another Decaf Democrat.
