College freshman today were 6 years old in the 2012 election.
A student of mine (age 20) told me after class that he appreciates when I explain how US politics and media were different before, because the Trump era is all he’s seen.
This is what young Americans think politics is. It’s normal now.

I think that folks aren't seriously thinking about the implications of young adults who know nothing other than a country which has normalized MAGA politics, God help us all.

MAGA & media have habituated a generation to accept the unacceptable deviation from decency, collectivism and empathy that used to motivate a majority to act.
Does not excuse the “greed is good” generation.
But the more telling thing is that you don't seem to realize that Trump is just the "quiet part loud" version of the standard GOP tactics since, at least, Reagan.
The bipartisan pressure that forced Nixon to resign was a rare exception.
What sets this era apart is Trump/GOP turning lies, division, & corruption up to eleven.
I think of what has been stolen -denied my children and it makes me seethe.
A new solidarity must be created.
Assassination of Lincoln and the destruction of Reconstruction era to present day…

I will suggest it to my college aged kids too.
It was a lot of Gen Z white men ... enough to tip the election to him. Wynne was fine to lose money, they'll gain way more now.
Are odds regulated?
It didn’t work that well, in terms of making U.S. kids competitive in math and science, but it did mean that we produced a generation who learned those subjects from the Internet instead.
Even the ones who are fun at dinner, because racist/pro-poverty was always pro-murder. The target list just expands when they have no real opposition.
Admittedly I did meet him in 2015 and he did work for the trump campaign. Nepo baby of the rep party.
it’s time yall actually back your “the kids are nazis” takes with actual data. Instead of taking antidotal social media posts as evidence a majority of gen z thinks that way
Society was smart and healthy they wouldn't vote against their own interests.
This is not the world I wanted to give them.

And what I'm saying is the Trump hillbillies who are completely past stupid is to get them with the program. So, you dump um in these camps till they get right. hehe
We have 30 years of people being made famous for bad behavior or just being famous for being famous and in America, fame is seen as success.
That is the real decline in American Culture.
Both Bushes came from wealth.
McCain's father was an admiral.
Romney, rich daddy.
Trump, silver-spoon criminal.
So much for a meritocracy.
She told a story about reporters asking school children what they thought of the candidates. One little boy said he didn't think a man could be president because it had always been a woman.
If we don't teach history, let alone modern history kids will not have an understanding that there even is another side to one story.
You don't know what you don't know. You won't learn it if you aren't taught it.
Or you will learn about much later in life.
It's funny, I know leftists that stayed home this past election, and they will lose so much MORE ground. I mean, dems were campaigning with liz cheney.
The modern left is basically dead as joe biden is going to look like lenin in a few years.

Not only was normal not fantastic for everybody, normal is trump to a significant percentage of American voters. They @democrats.org really need to reset their perspective when interacting.
Did he give us a break?
Or stretch it out longer?
Turn on

No wonder they have such a poor opinion of adults, institutions and politics!
Politics was never meant to be theatre; it's supposed to be how we decide who gets stuck with a difficult and tedious job.
That was one of the worst events I've ever seen. Did they see it as a normal protest that was no worse than the Columbia University takeover?
If so, we have lost something as a country.
“Can’t we just go back to when we had slavery and all the slaves were happy?” asks your 11th grade child home from their day at the Re-education Academy.

They suck at messaging so here we are!…
The concentration of power in a two-party system.👇
Not the founders intent.
I supported the democrats because they seemed to want to do the jobs and was against the republicans because they seemed like bullies constantly running attack ads
I think my parents raised me pretty good
Teaching "recent" history is very challenging precisely because it is so difficult to contextualize. Occasionally, when something big was happening in the news, I'd ask my history classes, "Assuming there are textbooks in 100 years, how many sentences will be in there about this?"
There were times I almost felt I was misleading my kids because of the stuff I had to omit just to get us
Average Republican voters will have plagued me with trump for a quarter of my entire life by then and for just over half of it since I reached voting age, but considering I didn’t even get into politics until about 2008, it’s the majority. Include Palin and it’s almost all of it.
It's only unacceptable for Democrats to age, apparently. Meanwhile, Nancy Mace and Lauren Bieber are 'young' but they are immature and destructive.
They're still just men, though.
Or the guy who appointed the judges that blocked Biden at every turn?
Or the guy who put the embassy in Jerusalem and took away Palestinian aid?
Just a thought.
Definitely since Nixon.
