I spent a semester in Ireland in college, about six months after 9/11. Bush had already burned all his international goodwill by then. all my Irish friends were like “oof, sorry about your man,” with a clear distinction between Americans and their leader. I don’t think it will be like that again.
Gently: the rest of the world is fully awakening to the fact that the United States is currently a hostile power.

That isn't new for some, yes. But it is new for many. They may say unkind things and you know, that's just part of how it is right now.
