Remember this one. In five years, or ten, or twenty. When we're a weird, dirty, backward nation that still sets fire to stuff, and places like China and India start to ask us why.

They can fight applications as much as they want, but I'm not sure they'll win & they might well bankrupt the council in the process.
Kirklees has wasted an absolute fortune fighting planning applications because of NIMBY councillors only to lose in court & put itself on the verge of a Section 114
I don't think jobs come in to it, people round here don't plan on the kids working on the buildings. Nothing gets built that a kid out of uni could afford
Good question, they probably come back or move to the city or a similar town. But I don't think they will be buying .5M houses. People just see loss of amenity, more traffic (congestion, pollution) and the kids stuck at home.
At this rate, like America, we are moving in that direction. Farage, with Reform, is winning without the narrative of anti-Brussels. Performing better than UKIP and driving mainstream policy at Westminster without being in charge. See attached.
Laughable. Local councils control the initial planning process. But that can be appealed with costs, to a national body that Tice does not control. And if they say no, it goes to the Secretary of State, who I imagine is fully on board with the build build build mantra…
Interestingly, he is limited to only saying "we will fight you all the way". This in the surefire knowledge that neither he or the mayor has the power or influence to stop you or central government doing any of these things... Don't be bullied by words...
In fact these things represent an opportunity for Starmer. Press on with these things and spoil for a fight with Tice because taking his position blocks investment and employment for the region....
Remember its the Times, Telegraph etc with thier ruthless focus on Thatcherism to the rabid exclusion of any other form of economics / social contract that laid the ground work for this to happen, this is just the latest iteration of greedy, selfish individualism championed by the right since 1979.
I agree this is mental, apart from anything else these people are supposed to stand for individual freedoms, so what f’ing business is it of theirs whether you have a solar panel?
However, China has over half of all global coal fired power stations, and is still building new ones!
Grifters like Farage & Tice are the last gasp of the hydrocarbon industry; they know it’s Game Over but they’ll still fight it all the way just to line their pockets.
Obviously quite a few of the population do suffer with density
I believe Lincolnshire and E Anglia had a lot of immigration of farm workers but the infrastructures couldn’t cope which gave rise to a lot of possibly latent racist views. Blaming the immigrants is easy
It's a fair point, and I'm sure the good people of Lincolnshire have many valid grievances, but I don't think Reform and its regressive policies would help solve these issues on balance.
As for infrastructure, solar energy investment would provide the population with affordable, clean power.
Exactly but that sort of joined up thinking is discouraged by Farage and his ilk and much of the media. Sadly MrP’s family are hideously right wing and bigoted. Also not very bright. I have to bite my tongue.
Tice won't care.
He'll be living in a luxury seafront penthouse in Greenland or wherever the jet set are hanging out when their current warm weather haunts become unliveable.
He divides his time between Skegness and Dubai (yes really). His girlfriend, Isabel Oakeshott, darling of the right wing media, moved there last year to avoid VAT on private school fees.
Hugo, check in to the theory of zone area electric pricing being considered to deal with nimbyism. Also, full public ownership of nuclear generation. So, for example, Scotland and North West, that generate the power at a significantly lower costs. Can use that advantage to attract investment.
The right wing climate sceptics used to say “but what if China doesn’t….” . Reform anti net zero is against public opinion so should backfire except with their core racist supporters.
Reform control the Mayor. They don't control Utilities, Services or National Planning Policy. Wideboy Tice is bringing a very small knife to a gunfight if he thinks he has any influence over energy companies or chartered planners.
Since 2019 GE, Reform UK has received more than £2.3 million from firms with oil and gas interests, and climate science deniers. 92% of the party’s donations.
Guess we now have the caliphate of deepest darkest Lincolnshire now.
Everything in Skegness now stops daily for the champagne fascists to go to prayer and worship dick tice climate denier extremist and his master manky teeth farage messiah in chief
In all likelihood, apart from Reform ramping up the rage baiting and right wing extremism, not a lot will change. If locals expect them to do anything to actually fix things, they're going to be sorely disappointed. If they're very lucky they may get some cos-play farmering but that'll be about it.
All we will see is a few years of “look at us we are better than you” whilst, the caliphate of Lincolnshire is dragged back in time along with anywhere that associates itself with reform fascism
So if you have any plans for the environment or even lowering you electric bills, think again. The reform party want to take you back to the reformation!
I doubt many businesses are going to be investing anything at all in Lincolnshire now. Which industry is going to look at a population of easily conned, backward-looking racists and think "they're the people I want to attract to my new facility"? And they've already got enough tattoo shops.
So, if you're a fellow businessman and recognise the installation of solar panels and batteries reduces your overall running costs regardless of your beliefs in net zero / climate change... these "so-called" politicians are now going to oppose you based on personal views and not evidence based fact?
It has become very tiring, very quickly seeing these populist grifters being given so much unchallenged media attention to pedal their ill-intent as benefits to the country. And also worrisome that so many don't appear to be able to see through it!
When a media ecosystem requires 'controversy' to thrive they'll push the contentious stuff. You'd have thought that after the 'success' of Brexit the voters would have got wise to the grift..but...sigh....
How come Germany, Canada, and Australia have recently seen the light about the populist right-wing agenda, while England remains entranced by their narrow-minded utterances? Are we closer to the USA than is healthy? 😱
And this is why I’m seething that people aren’t protesting Labour’s unnatural right-wing stance every single day! Starmer out! We want a Socialist alternative, not a ‘follow the leader’ idiot party. Labour did this to us, and I’ll never forgive them until they sack all the Tories in their party.
Tice and Reform may need to be introduced to "Nationally Strategic Infrastructure Projects". They're decided by the government, not at a local or mayoral level. Lincolnshire will not have any say. Enjoy.
Hugo…could you also repost the screenshots of all the promises made by the ‘Better Together’ campaign…you could start with the EU…Oil…lead not leave…it would be a long thread…
If in the near future, China uses ARC furnaces powered off 100% solar to produce steel at a fraction of the cost Scunthorpe can, I imagine Lincolnshire may change it's tune a bit on solar energy.
Skegness will still be a sh*thole in the middle of nowhere after four/five years of Reform running things.
Cf. the nearby South Holland fiefdom of John Hayes.
This post is exactly right; this is a time when as a country we should be investing in modern, forward looking progression and not reaching into some return to the Dark Ages…
Reform realky are a backwards Party. How will Reform fund social care and keep their core voters warm? Oh, Tice can't explain. He needs nu bers and data. He's shy of both.
Sir, having failed to receive a reply from Mr Tice I would be grateful if you could ask if councils that Reform now control will continue with VE day events and which side from WW2 they now intend to support? Yours, etc. P McDonald Linconshire.
No but they're more distributed. I.e. you get a lot more energy in a concentrated area from a thermal plant than you do the same area of solar panels. So there will be electricity being generated in new areas and new pylons will be required. In Lincolnshire and Yorkshire this could be a big change.
I still don't understand. Electricity distribution requires pylons and they've got to go somewhere. We've got huge new ones in Somerset probably connected to the new Hinkley nuclear power station.
Maybe there is no new requirement for pylons but that's not the story that Reform etc are spinning. Locally it's a big issue in the part of Yorkshire I live in and is just another thing that pushes people toward Reform.
Neither a Council, an MP or a party with 5 members, are King of a County. Parliament is sovereign, not a tiny party that can't even cope with more than 4 MPs without splitting up.
Remember it, too, as a fine example of Reform's real agenda of supporting the fossil fuel industry; and by extension, any other hypercapitalist enterprise
Reform care not one jot about you and me, Sid in Wolverhampton or Mary in Exeter; they are hungry for power to speed the corporate takeover of UK
Fact of the matter is, politicians who go against human progress that benefit the overall population do so only to benefit themselves through money donations, special treatments and freebies provided by the companies and business bosses who don't human progress.
The only coherent reason is that they have zero interests in progress that benefits the population as a whole. By going against clean fuel it benefits oil/gas companies, By going against fairness/equality/acceptance it benefits the elite who want the gap between rich and poor to get bigger.
Right-wing politicians will publicly argue that by pandering to oil/gas companies and elites that it will benefit the population as a whole by providing jobs, prosperity etc. based on "trickle-down economics" neo-liberal justifications but this isn't true and hasn't been the case since the 80s.
I intimated this in another share of the same message, but this has got nuclear-grade cost in mandatorily- allocated planning requirements all over it.
I mean, it’ll be no surprise about this, but it’s a pointless and empty threat he’s making.
He really doesn’t understand the limits of the power of a single MP, a mayor and a local authority, does he? He seems to think that makes him The Law. Sorry mate, you’re just a jumped up self-important little twerp.
"These initiatives will save hundreds of tonnes of CO2 every year and help our occupiers with lower electricity bills than they might otherwise have to pay, as well as provide an attractive retum for shareholders"
When people's bins are overflowing, their pot holes multiplied, and their council tax goes up, Reform's chickens will come home to roost. Hopefully in time for the next GE.

And Govt using Henry V111 powers is another option.

e.g. Almost no-one says anything nice about the 70s.
If you're thinking of transitioning from subsistence agriculture to modern capitalism
Think again
Nice one Dickie 👏 👏 👏

Very Patriotic

These people aren’t just stupid and cruel - they’re dangerous.
We must fight them.
Richard Tice
Is not very nice.
I wouldn't complain
If he fell down a drain.

Tice, supporting his paymasters, there.
The MSM needs to stop promoting their BS and show the public what duplicitous charlatans they really are.

DG "We need a DOGE style cut of excess, stuff like Net Zero, because its a waste"
BBC: But what about stuff thats beneficial?
DG "We're ideologically opposed to it so its out"
(I paraphrase)
😂😂😂
but those fucking Luddites will make the projects more expensive and later.

* passed through another time, but we didn't stop.
Hopefully we’ll have emaciated kids playing barefoot in the streets like the good old days!
Though of course the NHS was formed by then; we’ll be getting rid of that.
Remember that when you hear them talk. Somebody's going to get something out of it, and it isn't going to be those that voted for them
Cites he speaks for the people but lives in a tax haven. Hypocrisy of the highest.
However, as noted already, we’ve got load ms of new T Pylons in Somerset and they’re all for nuclear when Hinkley finally get the new site online.
Likely that AI will add more pylons than solar.
Reform care not one jot about you and me, Sid in Wolverhampton or Mary in Exeter; they are hungry for power to speed the corporate takeover of UK
Hope this helps ✌️

The rest is irrelevant
If you _invest_ here, think again???
After they are the reason for the largest drop of investment in the first place due to Brexit?
Genuine question, what's their plan?
Is it just a Russian grift all the way down?
Warm beer is a myth.
