One more vote for Promise Mascot Agency. Best card-battle Burnout-Paradise-adjacent business-management-sim cursed-fetch-quest deviant Yakuza-like you'll ever play.
DOOM early access is tonight. Given GB history with Diakanta and Doom in general it feels appropriate that one of the first QL's of Independent GB should be a new Doom game
It won't get big views, but I really enjoyed "Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap", IF you play it 4 players.
Solo, it's just fine.
Speaking of 4 player games, I really think you guys should take a look at Sunderfolk. It's so non-traditional, I think GB has to see it.
Feel like Atomfall got overlooked this year. And finish Split Fiction if you haven't. Sniper Elite Resistance was good dumb fun. Oblivion is Oblivion (complimentary).
Haven't played any other 2025 releases that I've enjoyed enough to recommend. Been a good backlog year!
In my personal time, I've been playing Savage: Ultimate Boss Fight. It takes inspiration from FFXIV for mechanics and telegraphs, but has you controlling a tank with one hand and a healer/archer with your other. It's been tickling my brain in a fun way.
For one that I want to try but haven't gotten a group together for yet, Sunderland looks like Gloomhaven-lite, with fun town segments between missions. Also, all 4 players control the game using their phones, similar to a Jackbox.
Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog! A ~7h old-school visual novel with a gorgeous PC-98 style, a fun cast and super engaging sci-fi thriller/action scenes. It takes only the best parts of being anime as heck and it's written really well with modern sensibilities (e.g. you can choose he/she/they pronouns)
The Final Fantasy (FIN) prerelease weekend actually starts on June 6th, same day as SGF. I'm sure they'll be busy, but I'd 100% be down to introduce everyone to a local game store around here for some Magic.
Kinda? Please do not Quick Look for DOOM or Oblivion.
I know it's enticing to tie those recent releases to the GB history, but don't let your triumphant return be tainted by covering games under the Microsoft boycott. I would be genuinely upset.
Do we genuinely expect GB to simply not cover anything Microsoft related? They’re a massive part of the games industry you cannot simply ignore them. Especially on a site with a news show.
I'm not gonna demand faultless ethics from them, but I totally agree because it's simply a waste of their time. They should QL games I don't already know a shitton about. Like the old days.
Sirocco is DOTA but for boats. Kinda pirate themed lane based boat battles. its simple, and sick.
The Bazaar is the best parts of hearthstone and autochess smashed together. I have like 500 hours since january in it, and the loop is so damn tight
Nubby's Number Factory is the ultimate number go-up
They were talking about Skin Deep on the Besties last week and it sounds interesting! Im-sim made by the people who did Quadrilateral Cowboy, where you go around and save cats. It’s high up on my “to try” list lol.
If you allow Early Access games perhaps Beastieball and Cook, Serve, Forever could be up for Quick Looks. Unless you’d rather wait for those to reach 1.0.
had no idea it was R&C adjacent i was assuming it was some sorta co-op survival game or something based on the name and vinny n will checking it out on nextlander,.. i might actually have to give that a peak then.
Star of providence, previously named monolith but has been re-released under Dunkey's publishing company big mode games. One of my all time favorite rogue likes.
I hope that if QLs come back that there is a degree of research on the game beforehand. IMO QLs were created to show people what a game is about with minimal time investment from the creators. I think having one person who is familiar with the game is important for QLs to fulfill that goal.
reccs no ,... honestly tho really i'd just love to see anything that piques you n anyone else's interest. its always fun to discover new games and even moreso to watch when they might be up a persons alley. alternatively just loading up something random is always fun to see too
Honestly, let's get weird. Some of my favorite Quick Looks are of games off the beaten path - Passepartout, My Summer Car, Nickelodeon Kart Racers, etc.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss QL's back!! Would love to see yall take on Doom when it drops this week, and recently Fatal Fury COTW and 100 Line Defense
