I feel your pain. My sweet boy Gus really is sweet -- but somehow he missed out on bit inhibition as a kitten, so he'll nip you to get your attention when he wants to be petted. Except his "nips" are deep bites.
Every time I see a clipped little ear on a housecat it warms my heart. Another baby off the streets, able to terrorize their new parents in warmth and comfort!

Human relationships with cats is a bit of Stockholm Syndrome with some trauma bond thrown in. No matter what abuse they serve up we keep trying to get them to love us. 💞
Be careful, biting or scratching? Cat bites are very dangerous, a tetanus shot and a ten day course of antibiotics after being bitten was my experience.
