There's an article being shared by someone at the Vancouver Sun about how Americans are not doing anything about what's going on or that we aren't fighting back and therefore all Americans are complicit.
I don't know about anyone else but everybody in my circle is fighting like hell and screaming.

If it's going to make liberals or anyone remotely left uneasy, they'll sensationalize it to a full panic
But being alive right now is kind of awesome too. It means we can do our part to make things better bit by bit.
The broader media has much better coverage (and we know you all aren't happily on board the Trump train!)
A) to secure their own rights and avoid far right takeover and
B) to end participation in Safe Third Country agreements with the US.
Anything else is just the pot calling the kettle black
If we follow the money, we can see that it's just going to keep buying governments to get its way so we really are in this together even if some people are trying to pretend we're not.
I consider the other half of the US who did not vote for Trump 100% allies. ❤️🇨🇦
It’s overwhelming how overwhelming it is.
Now they see they can get a boost from sham patriotism. The Premier of Ontario (a complete right-wing grifter) is trying to win an election off it.
My entire circle is calling and writing Congress people all the time.
There are demonstrations at Tesla dealerships.
1/3 of Americans voted for Harris.
1/3 of Americans didn't vote.
So one out of 3 people actively support this.
That's a whole lot of people to give up on because of a 1 in 3.
Check out @gregpalast.bsky.social 's work on this issue.
For those who don’t realize just how many people that is, 1/3 of the American population is more than 110,000,000.
Don’t give up. Don’t give in. It’s what fascists and authoritarians count on.
We’re terrified up here.
People seem to be waiting for someone to lead them, instead of taking action en masse.
In order to protest in the way that is being discussed, Americans would need to place their lives on the line in a way that will inevitably lead to _many_ MORE people needlessly suffering and dying.
1. US media isn’t going to show you the protests. They are happening.
2. This isn’t France. Our police officers will become violent if we riot. + Trump would use that as an excuse to call in the military on all the protests.
3. I’m sorry he is bullying your country.
trudeau is stepping down and the liberal party's takeaway has been LET'S MOVE RIGHT
the liberals are making the same mistake as the UK labor party and you may survive this round of elections, but canadian fascism is waiting in the wings for all you too
When people who are not white or cis, riot or light things on fire, they're murdered by the cops or the national guard.
The military you're afraid of? Yeah, so are we.
I get why folks arent, I was commenting about the general perception up here, but didn't land the wording in a good way.
- jailed/blacklisted all our white leftists in the 50s
- killed all our black leftists in the 60s
- persecuted/left to die all our queer leftists in the 70s/80s
- stopped bernie from running for president TWICE
y'all do NOT know who your neighbors are
But anyhow, that's the perception from up here. We see little reaction to the dumpster fire.
There have been protests at every state capitol.
Much of Canadian media being owned by wealthy conservative Americans has blunted our ability to access information.
The worst thing we can do is nag Americans for not doing enough.
Americans are fighting this.
We don't have to antagonize people with our ignorance.
Suggesting gently here--we're all pretty stressed--a good thing for us online folks is to follow some US friends who ARE out there covering protests, bc they're absolutely happening, then share that info with our CA friends/family so they know what our media isn't covering.
I think public opinion is shifting. A bunch of resignations at the DOJ tonight over corruption. And he fired veterans today and is going after the VA.

LA, for example.
students are still walking out on a daily basis
they hate this. they are fighting back. I'm scared too, but please don't think they've abandoned hope.
Americans are giving a shit. They just don’t want everyone to know it.
But chiding us for being targeted and having to deal with as much bullshit while we are in every way more vulnerable to our own government & do not have universal health care (tied to our jobs) & other protections is a bit rough.
All my meatspace Canadians have been sweet and supportive, as per usual.
Also, yikes.
Now, a Republican...
