For a lot of us, losing Twitter isn’t really about losing ties to the company itself. It’s losing 10+ years of real, asynchronous communities, professional development, the ability to get gigs and clients, the ability to promo/share your art on an extremely broad scale. The loss of that has impact.

The intent was to break up & scatter the town square for Dems/liberals.
Mission accomplished.
Also surprisingly, of saving lives during Hurricane Maria.
Wont miss the brand, but will miss the rest.
Such a shame to see Twitter lose all of that in the attempt to become Weibo 2.0
e.g., I used to be a geocacher. Emphasis on *used to* be.
Is wild that he has been trying to use his X domain for so long, only for it to fail yet again lol
And still… the connections I made were invaluable
It’s constant.
It's so so many things.
It was easy to connect, simple to use & it felt like you are interacting more with people, compared to other similar social media plattforms.
Esp. as an artist it was so much easier to share work, bc no hashstags and texts where required ;__;
Transforming a heretofore essential cultural network into another wealth weapon and massive hate virus is at the heart of the drive for acquisition.
Even more wild that it was destroyed in 6 months.
Don't want to join Threads either because we already give Meta way too much data.
I’ve never really used it as a work platform but it’s brought me so much joy over the years on a personal level.
Christy, you're my girl.
- interacting and working with other activists who have not switched.
- looking for new people to follow who are local
- monitoring terrible local people who only have facebook/Twitter
Community is building there.
Twitter or this X is no longer the space to build the community anymore. They're ebbing away.
I spent so much time building up the page, links & trust with clients.
It's where I got 90% of my commissions.
Every single show i played as an emo band, i got there by dm-ing people i knew from emo twitter. And I’ll miss that!
I had finally started growing a small community around my indie game over the start of this year, and a single idiotic billionaire is just trashing everything to the point where I can't see a future on that site at all
This scenario is precisely what the AT protocol intends to solve but its effectiveness is yet to be seen.
There are so many people I need to find here, and it is difficult.
I'll see a new social media as a new opportunity as well though. Trying to make the best of it 💪🏻
Thank you!
It's understandable and proper that we feel that loss right now.

The community though...
Elon clearly does not know what he’s doing at all. 😔
Compared the 44 billion dollars He burnt for an app, just so he can feel cool
They really don't get how that tool changed countries.
For whatever reason, I've had a really hard time building much of a following anywhere but Twitter.
It's where I've connected with people (as much as is possible with my mental health issues).
It's where I promote my books.
I don't know what the heck I'm gonna do without it.
