I will never get over the very serious left intellectuals who spent years yelling and people who called Trumpism by its proper name from the start. So much of the fascism debate felt like protecting turf and one-upmanship. Sad given the stakes.

I will never get over the in-fighting and one-upsmanship within the liberal coalition.

I remember many more cases of the flip side, where centrists were comparing true leftists like Kshama Sawant to Trump. As if fighting to end caste discrimination in Seattle makes you as bad as a fascist somehow.

The saber rattling at Iran and DPRK went down the memory hole along with expanded drone strikes and the assassination of an Iranian general.
Potential conflict was always looming.
Also, we were at war with Afghanistan during Trump’s entire first term. And Biden was pilloried for doing the right thing and ending the war.
