Alright so… Dragon Age is good right but does anyone else just find everyone too perfect and too nice? Like it’s all sunshine and rainbows all the time (within camp) there’s no grit or friction 😭🤣 like nobody is an asshole in this game. I want someone to tell my rook to fuck off like 🤣🤣🤣
Comments
It kinda feels like everyone became soft after the inquisition lol
People pull the woke card, but to me it just looks boring. I’m trying to get more details from folks who love it, but i’m not getting much, which makes me a little hesitant
I’m more interested in MetAphor
The squeaky shiny we never argue or disagree about anything dynamic is BORING lol
But also the game world itself is so...sanitised? Where is the racism or slaves?
There are moments when I know the DAI party would have snarky comments during exploration. Just silence or really inappropriate positive banter? Bizarre but blight is 10/10
Your dialogue options are basically 1. I agree with you 2. I agree with you (silly) and 3. I agree with you (sternly)
And before anyone says it, I'm an old-school gamer and I've played every single Dragonage on launch.
IT HAS NO EDGE THATS A GREAT WORD FOR IT!!! It’s just too fluffy isn’t it. It’s a shame because it had all the ingredients and potential to be something really special… but damn am I bored.
I usually play as the "good guy" anyway, but there's always a few moments where I want to be more aggressive and Rook is just too nice lmao.
👍🏽 - it's alright!
😂 - well, it could be worse!
- > 😡 - you owe me, you piece of shit!
*Selects tough prompt*
"Well I did you a big favor, so I'd really appreciate it if you help me out a bit more than that haha"
Lmao 😭
I've started using the aggressive dialogue option a lot just to sound less like a wet noodle 😭
In previous games you could execute people 😂
I don't mind it, but I certainly get the point.
And yes I do agree, it would've been nice if some companions held some grudges after you chose something they didn't like and then told you off about it.
It's BY FAR the most DA or Mass E game by focus group you can imagine.
It's just....bland and hard to invest in like previous Bioware games.
It's hard to care about character and conversation choices that are all different flavors of "be a good boss."
So did TLOU, elden ring, final fantasy, yakuza, Witcher like I could go on
Now it's just like the other site, it's so over, chat.
(For the record I hated typing out the above message, it's so rude, I'm sorry, Nick).
I'm literally these characters lmao😭
I'm loving the game so far but I miss some friction with the new characters, they too nice.
I miss having to control a bunch of bickering assholes who can talk back to me.
Bellara had this dialogue with Neve, where she said that she knew someone was a ShadowDragon because they weren't mean and reminded her of Neve. They've exchanged like 3 words before this sequence🤣 like, come on.
Playing the game during a challenging period, it really serves as a soothing balm on my mind.
I think that kind of writing should have it's niche. It depends what you want/need at the precise moment you're playing it.

I just wanted to make sure the "NVC" abbreviation was clear....😔)
Even most of the NPCs are cool and calm. The whole world is under a calamity but everyone is totally fine.
It feels like there is Xanax in the drinking water.
Look out for Cullen 😍
But it's like too streamlined.
Funny enough I like my Rook more than some of the characters
Like, even you as the main character cannot be mean, let alone NPCs.
I haven't played the game yet, but I have heard there is way too much of a focus on being nice or 'good'.
Enjoying the game they’re just all so pleasant and nice all the time it’s just a bit boring that’s all, wasn’t expecting this tweet to gain the traction it has
It’s still DA world, and for me I love it because I know so much lore already, but for now the characters don’t make me want to punch them, which always happened before 😂
The older DA were dark as f**k at times
She distrusts mages, and despises rich, noble people. Look at how she curses like a sailor.
Hard to imagine a Veilguard companion doing the same. 😭
Maybe give your thoughts and opinions on the pedestrianisation of Norwich City centre.
I just haven't played it so didn't realise it was like that. But it also doesn't surprise me 👀 I haven't seen any of the character love/hate on the TL like I did with BG3

They traded speed to go into missions and combat for lore and proper dialogue and banter.
Which definitely isn't a deal-breaker, but hopefully I'll still enjoy everything else around it once I finally get to it.
wardens go insane right?
Not me
Haha they all say that, when if it happens imma get you mind
Haha yeah that’s fine you can kill me
Trolololol let’s pick flowers together
Veilguard is a good example of writing for a mass-marketed product rather than writing as art.
Definitely wouldn’t call this game dark fantasy
Oh I got coffee and went to a funeral with the DEMON POSSESSED ASSASSIN?
I'm near the end of the game I'm playing and can wait to start Veilguard tho.
Yeah I get build ups and plot pacing but I also don't like that being used against any criticism in the game.
I'll be judging for myself soon. Older DA games had such great conflict between the cast and it made it compelling.
In the previous games, you could make evil, fucked up options, or be an asshole jerk in dialogue. Companions would lash out at you, or even betray you in the previous games.
This game is a bit too..."heroic?"
That said, I think for Veilguard, its troubled development cycle and the way it got rebooted multiple times in the last 10 years contributed to the lack of jerk dialogue options.
-Defiling urn of sacred ashes in Origins which makes companions Leliana/Wynne hostile.
-Handing Isabella over to the Arishok in DA2
-Telling Sera to leave the party permanently
But you could still choose to be a ruthless hero and make asshole quest decisions, or kill certain NPCs, including companions in some quests.
Compared to that, Veilguard is a bit more heroic.
In DA2, the angel wings was the "Diplomatic" dialogue. The mask is the "Sarcastic, sassy" dialogue. The fist is "Aggressive" dialogue. They felt distinct and different.
In Veilguard, all 3 dialogue options feel samey. 😔
On a technical level I like the game, but the writing is a step down from the previous games
"Who's this idiot" (Grey Warden) turned out to be a glib "And who's this, then?"
Let me be a dick to dickheads!!
I am really enjoying the game, but the tone makes that difficult at times
There are examples, like Rebirth, that have an often-similar whimsical tone, while maintaining the undertone of seriousness and peril
This has huuuuuge "don't worry, be happy" energy
I'm playing through Baldurs Gate 3 for the first time - now that's my jam.
I'm having a good time but it's normal for people to be frustrated and angry with each other!
Especially when you're trying to save the damn world 😂
👍🏼 be lovely
🤣 be funny
🦸 be heroic
It just feels very unnatural at times.
Would be awesome if there was just one massive dick in my party 🤣
(Love most of them, but I fully agree with you)
