My husband had a coffee at 6pm, like he's not a 50 year old man who should know better, and now he's buzzing around the house like a fly trying to find its way out.

Really? My husband and I just had coffee an hour ago, like 10:30pm and he's been asleep for an hour. We're in our 50s. I'm only up because I'm finishing up some editing before bed. It never seems to bother us. Maybe we're immune? Or could it be that we drink a couple pots a day? Lol
Wait are you my wife? You have to tell me if you are my wife on bsky under an alias. *Sips poorly-considered coffee while glaring suspiciously over the rim of the mug.*
I’m in my fifties too and although I love coffee it is off limits after mid-afternoon. For some reason it just doesn’t play nice with my insides after that time. So I switch to tea. No problem. 🫖
My dad gets up at 6am every morning and does his routine. Part of his routine is to do house chores on the weekend, but he’s not one to sit around and do nothing. He really loves to putter around the backyard “doing things.” I feel coffee fuels his day.
I actually woke up at 5am, drank coffee, then went back to sleep, then woke up an hour later, drank an energy drink and slept for another hour. Never did that before, I could not resist the sleep
Is he able to do the dishes without breaking them?
There's always the laundry, as well as vacuuming the floors.
He's buzzing around; might as well put him to good use! 🤩
When I find myself lying in bed at night unable to fall sleep, I go downstairs and have a double-shot cappuccino. Then I go back to bed and fall asleep almost immediately...
Life is weird!
Put him to work. My husband has ADHD and can’t go to bed at a regular time. He does his part of the housework after I go to bed with my door shut and earplugs in.
🤣🤣I remember, 20-odd years ago, being plagued by a mother of a migraine at 9pm. My mom recommended I take a ristretto, aspirin and sugar. My husband came back at 4 am from a party and found me on all 4s, sponge in hand, cleaning the bathroom floor... He was like: "What the --??" 🤯🤣🤣

(That's also apparently a common ADHD thing)
Light work mate, espresso before bed, easy 🤣🤣🤣
Good luck!

A real insomniac.
About 15 years later it occurred to me;
I was hanging out in a coffee shop until it closed every night.
Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep.

It takes three coffees to make me feel marginally coherent these days…oh to have that kind of response again!
