I've given up in outlook as it's a resource hog. I've switched back to thunderbird as it's a thinner client. I still have old outlook with archived .pst files as I have to maintain audit trails of various projects but otherwise it slows down my laptop and adds no value

None of the 3rd party clients are ever very good IMO, so I keep trying Outlook and Apple's Mail app.

I'm not sure why because they're both always terrible and then somehow get worse, so I just wind up going back to webmail, but I keep trying...

eM Client is great on the PC. On the iPhone and the iPad it’s worthless. Maybe in the future they will improve it but right now I wouldn’t bother.

Some of them have spiritual successors. For Simcity the first Cities: Skylines is great, Duke Nukem humor, Saint's Row 3/4. For Privateer there's old school Freelancer by the Roberts brothers and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. Starfield, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen have bits and pieces of the spirit.

No thought about Thunderbird? I was a eudora user and transitioned to thunderbird years ago when eudora went away.
It seems to do everything that EM client does and is free, I'm managing about 20 email accounts. Imap keeps everything accessible across devices.

Starflight for sure, it's kind of a travesty this hasn't happened yet.
Also a game called Conflict, which billed itself as a "Middle East Simulator". You played as Israel. Game itself had tons of exploits & quirks, but I'd love to re-up it w/all ME nations playable.

Loved Duke Nukem but my heart belongs to Network Doom. Many after hours team games across different departments and even countries in the 80s and yes we did crash the servers multiple times but it was after hours so who knew 😂

Good list! I'd love a new Starflight (not to mention Star Control). There's a newer game called Rebel Galaxy Outlaw that is sort of Privateer-like, but with weaker story. And I'm with you on Duke Nukem - bring back Dr. Proton!

Stellaris and GalacticCivs share the same problem as other updated versions of old games: They're built for people who want to spend hours studying game manuals. I loved the 1990 War in the East, played it endlessly, and the new one is incomprehensible.

I’m partial to 688 Attack Sub myself. Survived the initial hunt after launching my cruise missiles. Made a wrong turn, and got Mission Failure for trying to exit the map of the Baltic from the wrong place. Never ended up finishing the game.

The low-res nostalgic original is fine. I just think the devs would have tough choices in reimagining a character who is basically a blonde in a bathing suit. Though there's a mostly good reimagining of Lara Croft/Tomb Raider, so they could probably reinvent Jill, too.
