I have seen so much "the New Jersey drones are just another sign that society is falling apart...it's the military...it's Iran...it's martial law" but I swear to christ it's probably some fucking YouTuber.

This is extremely frustrating. I consider myself an open minded skeptic on UFOs/UAPs and most stuff that falls under the umbrella of paranormal/supernatural. 95% is likely either deliberately made up, or misinterpretation of something banal
But such phenomena are so widespread across time, place, culture that I'm open to genuine evidence, even if it's just that it's based on some hardwired genetic things that means we all have similar hallucinations. But people jumping to conclusions without evidence just muddies the waters
It's funny that people will flip out over complete nothing burger events, meanwhile we're on the cusp of a fascist nationalist government in the US. "We're gonna fuck over the immigrants, but idk the drones are more scary"
Working titles: "Balloon boy 2.0", "Let's see New Jersey parking enforcement try to tow THESE!!", "I tricked the US military into thinking I was invading New Jersey!!", plus the potential for them being some random Mr Beast money-cannons for a future over-hyped video...
They remind me of the guy who hooked up his lawn chair to weather balloons and brought a shotgun to lower himself down (his plan was to shoot the balloons as necessary)
I could see it being the military, but less sinister and more "they are running drone tests that for some reason can't be done in a more remote area". Ukraine has shown that drones are a big deal in modern warfare so it would be weird if they weren't developing something.
There are literal drones in the hundreds as reported and documented by, for example, several mayors across the state of NJ - what’s hysterical about it? There’s like a trillion videos at this point.
There’s a couple of good ones in this. What i find most compelling is the let’s say more credible eyewitness account like this mayor here. Clearly something is up - even just the fact that these things are up in the air for several hours. No hobby drones can do that, and planes aren’t stationary 🤷♂️
The fact that they are playing dumb suggests they are not “testing”. Wish this were the case, but far more likely they are looking for something. Urgently.
I live in NJ, and my mom (who's not even in the US) keeps texting me about them because the news relentlessly spins conspiracy theories about them based on zero evidence.
I’m gonna be wrong about this, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if it’s SuperMega making a sketch comedy ranking different power grids and bridges based on their hotness?
If it turns out Mr Beast is behind this I'm going to commit violence upon his person. I don't care that I'm broke and British. I shall part the Altantic like the red fucking sea and walk over there myself.
What's up, guys! It's ya boy Skywizzle out here making some delicious, yummy content for you. Today, we're going to fly big ass drones at night and not tell anyone were doing it. Best prank anyone has ever pulled, yo. Don't forget to smash that like button and ring that bell! Skywizzle out.
It's the military, otherwise they and the FAA would have already been going ballistic. They know exactly what's going on and just aren't allowed to say.
It's not the enemy, it's not an amateur, the military is not concerned, so aside from very far fetched theories, to me this looks like a show. For China to see.
The US might have developed some sub launched undetectable drones which could come in handy in case of a Taiwan invasion.
I suspect you're right. I think this, and probably those 'tictac' videos are probably top secret military stuff. Some kind of double blind testing to see how pilots in conventional craft react to and attempt to deal with these rhings
If they REALLY didn't know what they were, I assume the first guess would be Russia or China, and would they really admit how flumoxed these things left them? Why not play it down, 'sure they were fast as shit, but we had them tracked the whole time and could have downed them if they proved hostile'
I work for a Jersey-based publication. My inbox has. been. bonkers. with increasing intensity the past two weeks over this. It’s not even the public; it’s reported sightings, media fervor, political agendas and public figures’ very intense reactions. And wild conjecture—but that’s obvious, right?
Except no one's hysterical. It's about to be 2025 dude. Gov announced aliens are real and we all said "okay whatever" and continued our lived as normal just like we still are.
'UFO' is not synonymous with aliens. It's anything that can fly and hasn't been identified. If there were to be an alien craft that we knew about, it wouldn't be a UFO, because it would have been identified already as an alien craft.
Seems like the initial reports were legit, and unclear as to what they were. With more media coverage there are just more people looking and suspecting every light they see at night is a drone (though many are likely aircraft or something else easily explained). Online conspiracies going crazy
Insurance, construction, infrastructure, telcom, private security, real estate, police, etc. companies survey property/structures via drones.
Drone swarms might be an appealing cheaper option than less drones with a longer lasting battery. Same with processing power for image/video/3d scanning
While stargazing in NJ recently, I saw multiple drones floating around in the pitch black. They were silent, like barely perceptible shadows.
They were creepy enough that i left, but even knowing other people are seeing this, I can't think of a reason anyone would spy on an empty golf course.
As a New Jerseyan I’ve been on the NJDrones subreddit for a couple of weeks now and it’s incredible how quickly it’s devolved into absolute crackpot territory.
I think the initial sightings in November were probably legit, and now everyone’s stepping outside and are seeing for the first time what planes look like at night, thinking they’re drones and subsequently freaking out about it
The first I heard about this was a couple days ago, and the "drone" in question was overlaid with a drawing of a Cessna Citation X. Perfect match. I'm convinced most of this would go away if these people opened ADSB-exchange instead of their camera apps.
Just because someone reports something doesn’t mean it actually happened. I’ve been following the news on this closely bc many of the “sightings” have been over my town, but I haven’t seen a single picture or video showing what you just described. 99% of them are clearly passenger planes.
Ummm. Obviously it's a MAGA looking for Mexicans. I assume the military, NJ and NYC don't openly share immigrants personal information and exact locations just willy nilly? Yeah we have comic book villains now. Murphy's Law apparently has a cousin, whatever is the most insidious theory, is correct.
I dunno man, whatever it is where the hell are all the preppers now?
Like this is the kinda shit you paranoid assholes are all about, what the fuck are you even doing?
Because you know what it LOOKS like? Liberal media.
Just, bending over and taking it.
You gonna keep it up?
Fuckin' get them drones!
Lol I predict it's a PR stunt for a video, movie, or television series. Remember the zombies that invaded cities across the country before the release of The Walking Dead?
Can you imagine them sitting on their twitch and yt stream in their moms basement, laughing as they see footage of their drones plastered all over the news? How they must guffaw when they hear them called “alien”.
You’re a science guy and I respect that, so let me ask you something; how much time have you actually spent looking into this? You didn’t seem to even know that it was happening over a base in the UK as well. I’m not saying it’s aliens, but it isn’t normal and it deserves proper engagement.
Hank, they are car sized drones and there are a lot of them. They were also in the UK around the RAF base at Lakenheath just a week before. They stay in the sky for 5 hours or more, they fly higher than commercial drones are capable, they evade radar and emit no radio signals. It’s not a Youtuber.
Yeah, there’s nothing here to suggest it’s some unknown lifeform. I can’t even find any images that show anything that looks unlike a drone with a flashing light on it. Definitely can’t see anything from which size of the drone can be inferred.
And, finally, the really good reports of long duration flight came out of the RAF Lakenheath event which happened a couple of weeks before this. I outright watched a livestream from a guy living nearby where they stayed aloft for hours.
As I'm sure you know, the higher a drone is, the harder it has to work, draining battery, and the colder it is, like winter in NJ at altitude, the worse batteries handle. I've flown drones and temperature + height can cut into your battery.
Now, of course, this is anecdotal and maybe people looked away, didn't see it leave, and then saw another nearby drone and assumed it was the same, and most people haven't recorded hours of video, but even 30 minutes at high altitude in the cold is impressive for a hobby drone.
Multiple places. There is a Reddit sub for people to report sightings of them. You can also go on the Ring App and Nextdoor and people will report them hovering for hours. I've been watching live cams of the area and saw what I thought was a star hang around for 30inutes then take off.
Reasonable question. I’ve been following this for a while. A lot of people have been seeing them and recording them. They’ve been flying pretty low at times, low enough to use landmarks to gauge size. And in any case, it’s actually the NJ police who first claimed them to be car sized or larger.
Unless you have a range finder or a source of parallax it is impossible to separate "Large but far away" from "Close but small". With an object against the sky.
Personally, I’ve speculated that it is joint US/UK air security testing using new advanced drones, considering how geopolitically tense things are. But this is just strange. They don’t give off typical heat signatures? How does something using that much energy not do that?? https://youtu.be/K98A4CLMwf4?t=207
An aircraft flying between flight level 35 and 45 will be out of range of most commercially available FLIR cameras so their heat signatures would not be detected.
Because many were silent. Either they were very close and that is what made them appear large—imagine how close a hobby drone would have to be to appear car sized—but they were silent; or they were too far away to hear, but quite large. Also, the police used range finders. This claim is from them.
>> Unmanned drones the size of coffee tables, invisible to radar, radio, or from helicopters, but visible to people on the ground, or at sea.
>> This all seems similar to UFO sightings, particularly during the UFO craze back in the early 7Os
>> I'm not saying 1OO% bogus, but I am skeptical
I could identify one of the "drones" based on a blurry, but still decent image of it as a small, two-person helicopter. That took less than 5 minutes of Google searching to find the right model.
A ton of these are just commercial aircraft excited that people are reporting as something else.
My money is on Musk! I don’t think they are alien because they are conforming to FAA lighting regulations. The question is why he is surveilling our military installations and airports - focusing on landing sites? (I don’t like the answer my wildly conspiratorial imagination is coming up with)
My insane person theory for a few hours was that they lost a nuke or something, and they're surveying to find it. The more I think about it the less sense it makes lol
The reason I thought this was because the US supposedly sent missiles to the UK and then they were also seeing drones over their military base. US gov claim they don't know what these are, but they also pose no threat. How would the gov not know what these are? They shot down two spy balloons fast
The reason I feel like this makes no sense at all is because why would they do it like this? Why this method? Why over people's houses at tree level? It doesn't make sense to me. Okay tin foil hat off now. I'm pretty curious to see what actually is going on lol
I told a co-worker they could just be a hobbyist, he rejected the notion. To be fair, weren’t they flying near a military base at some point? I’d be willing to bet it’s just a classic area 51 situation. The pentagon is like 🤷🏼♂️ we don’t know, just forget about it. We’ll look into it for ya.
That’s why I’m more inclined to bet it’s just a military drone and they are playing dumb because it involves secret tech. However I did not verify the location it was flying, so maybe it wasn’t near a base. Hard to trust media at face value.
As someone who lives in New Jersey, there are a SURPRISING number of influencers that i know and are friends with that live here. Its so strange that this state of all places births so many large creators
Why wouldn't they just SAY that then? This has been going on for weeks and the FBI and the Pentagon have said "We don't know what they are, but i guess we like their vibe so it's nbd" ??? it's such a weird situation that makes no sense.
If you ever became a streamer i would listen to you yap about this all day long. I mean I already to with hankschannel, vlog brothers, scishow, tangents…. But still
I live in drone central epicenter. we are certain it’s a bunch of uber smart teenagers, living in Tewksbury /Bedminster There’s plenty of farmland and barns to build and hide the project in. Their parents think they’re playing video games in their bedrooms. I say look for tired kids in science class
Ukrainians on day three would have surged a bunch of IFV airburst and emp — recorded, followed closely to locate operators and brought down a couple to reverse engineer in a few days.
Some of the "psy-ops" conspiracies actually do hold water, but so many of them boil down to just capitalism doing capitalism things. It's not always the CIA, sometimes it's just Brett and Chad sitting in their cubicles with bachelor's degrees in marketing.
Most that I've seen look like planes coming in for a landing, but some people say they are quiet. You'd hear a plane.
Other people say they're the size of cars or golf carts. And I'm like HOW? We have drones that big? Wouldn't the battery life be really short if it's that big?
People are really bad at judging the scale of something in the sky. Unless you can hit it with a banana, there really isn't much to inform someone how far away something is, so to say you would hear something should be taken with a grain of your prefered grain of choice.
Breaking points was talking about it today like they are aliens. I'm open to that concept, but the alien drones just happen to show up when drones are becoming common place through our technological advancements. They could be nefarious, but I'd need a lot more proof to even start to think alien.
What's up YouTube! (sudden serious cut) Our society is fraught with fear. To prove this, I threw a thousand drones into the sky and kept it all a hehe secret. Anyways subscribe to hear more storytimes like this one and let's get into it
god i love writing replies that i think are soooo funny without reading any of the other replies before posting. now i see everyone thought to do the same thing as me and i instead just lived a normal human experience . we live in a society
Honestly, if it’s not a YouTuber, it’s gotta be some TikToker filming their ‘epic social experiment.’ The real conspiracy is how content creators keep finding new ways to stress us all out.
Next time a person tells a reporter "it was as big as a car," I would like that reporter to ask that person "how big is a car?" I would hazard a guess that most people have no idea how long a car is.
I’ll concede the bell curve of American intelligence indicates a depressingly low mean score… but surely most could accurately approximate the dimensions of an item they are near/around/in on a daily basis!
I believe you misunderstood. Yes, there are manned vehicles smaller than the average dimensions of a car; the reports were that these were hovering/strafing machines were approximately the size of a car. (12’x6’x 5’)
I saw a Sikorsky King Stallion fly over yesterday afternoon. Very low. Very rare for our area. It was enormous, but I would never have guessed it's 100 ft long.
See thats what gets it shakey. Actual military combat drones that large cruise at like 5,000 or 10,000. They don’t “strafe”
and wouldn’t even need to be close to the ground get footage. At altitude they would look like another aircraft
A DIY drone of that size isn’t practical, let alone unlocatable over what they’re saying is a 2 hour period of sightings? It would have to be consumer size, and operating lights for some reason??
It reminds me of the first UFO craze of the late 40’s and 50’s. People were anxious about new technology and foreign adversaries. Then there was big surge in mysterious flying objects. People thought they might be Soviet wonder weapons, then it was aliens.
the more i read about it the more i genuinely think it could be some youtuber doing a video on like the US's security against drone espionage, or at even some amateur drone pilots wondering about that for themselves
Comments
(Just to be clear, that is a JOKE)
Like the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast (also by New Jersey) or the UFO craze of the late 40s and 50s.
never mind that. who is this? and why should we talk about them?

in New Jersey because it’s a low regulation airspace.

I would not want the DoD on my ass.

I really think it's all just mass hysteria.
There are 5 RC clubs in NJ & they're having a good laugh

And the idea that Iran is flying drones over New Jersey is almost as ridiculous. 😂

And I've seen reports from other countries.
I don't have enough information to form an opinion yet.
they went to best but and bought some drones and are filming a video for space YouTube about messing with humans
1) They can't because they aren't man made drones
2) These things behave in ways that science cannot account for...no visible means of propulsion. Drones have blades, these don't.
Why do you think they're drones?
anyone could be a fucking youtuber
Either be the aliens or stick you head out the basement so we know you still breathe oxygen.
"Yo chat look at this, can we get hype for naked monkeys ?"
Then they do a little silly trendy space dance.
Fly a drone over an airfield and they take care of it immediately, but terrorise a community for a month and nobody cares?
Seems fishy to me
