Jon Stewart has a podcast. I don’t know what it about that man but he always helps talk me off the ledge. The post election podcast he did helped me understand what the heck happened with the election.
I can’t say not doom oriented but it can happen here by @iwriteok.bsky.social is a good podcast in general with a leftist perspective on current events. As I’m sure you’re aware, current events haven’t been too great as of late so I’m not sure what else we could really say.
I find that he has the greatest breadth of knowledge wrt leftist politics than anyone else out there. The leftist political influencer sphere isn’t too big and he seems to be at the center of it with the best coverage imo
I just leave the TV off & mutter obscenities to myself in the dark, mostly. It beats trying to bite the back of my own neck. Kinda. Fun times ahead😁😳🤣❣️
Hey girl hey! We're going through Designing Women on our Baking Sugar podcast and Murder She Wrote on our You Slay Me pod. I can't promise you'll learn anything, but you'll have fun.
not a podcast but last week tonight with john oliver does a really good job of delivering recent news but also throwing in some fantastic comedy bits. earlier this year he tried to pay a supreme court justice to retire.
But that's part of the problem. REALITY is Manchin said he would not vote for a SCOTUS judge that couldn't get Republican votes effectively killing our chances to do it. So maybe funny but again certain leftists pretending solutions are easy when not even possible is not helpful. At all.
How do you feel about the planet Mars. I love studying geology. That planet reveals there was life at one time it had oxygen at one time. I wonder what happened. I'm trying to figure that out. Thank you DAWN.
Involving politics , religion in any subject inadvertently destroys any interest it may have had for yourself and others
Best not to involve left or right but attempt to stay neutral then they cant point which about sums up all politics anyway whos ambition seems only to destroy
i don’t have a podcast but i love john oliver sooo much! he has all of the main segments from his show posted online & he goes over so many important topics!!including many smaller issues that are not covered enough!! i’ve literally been counting down new episodes of his since the election 😭
Jessica Yellin. She’s amazing. Made the last presidency of Cinnamon H*#ler bearable for me. Explains exactly what is going on without causing anxiety attacks.
Well it’s not daily but weekly. It’s on YouTube. It airs every Thursday night at 8ET, 7CT, and 5PT It’s the RNL-Revolution Nothing Less-Show YouTube/therevcoms
Let me know if you find one. I have been avoiding my regular podcasts because they make want to crawl under the bed and don’t even have one. So, instead to relax a little I have been listening to real crime documentaries. I think I need therapy but even that sounds stressful 😩
Ezra Klein is not always going to tell you what you want to hear, but he's crazy smart, an independent thinker, does his research, and has fantastic guests.
@therestispolitics - not daily, with the US version being usually weekly. Intelligent conversation from both sides of the political divide. Essential listening
Podcasts - New Yorker magazine, New Scientist magazine, The Economist, The Guardian.

Not sure if she currently has a podcast, but I love Heather Cox Richardson's @hcrichardson.bsky.social Letters from an American. Coupled with the late-night comedians, it's my go-to for keeping up with the day's news and events.
Also, she bills herself as a historian not as left or right, which I find refreshing and intriguing. I like the balance and the historical background she brings to her analysis of current political events.
I’d honestly take a look at the NPR offerings. They range from moderate left to progressive and I find that between all of them, if one is focusing on the election too much, the others offer an alternative.
I understand the sentiment, but if you want one that's HONEST, you're going to hear a lot of doom, because that's just where we find ourselves at the moment. Better to have your eyes wide open than to be blindsided.
.
I like the city cast xxx where xxx is the city they cover. In the west they do Denver, salt lake city, Boise, and Las Vegas. Daily m-f about 20 minutes
I love Pod Save America but it’s pretty doomy right now.
I discovered the Bulwark report (? Bulwark something) this week and really like it. It’s realistic but very…human. The tone is gentle and thoughtful. The host seems to be seeking goodness.
@halsparks.com Hal Sparks on YouTube/twitch. He has a morning and evening show and is one of the funniest intelligent people I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to.
i don’t BUT i have a podcast that goes over good environmental and marine news that isn’t talked about and it’s a nice pallet refresher if you want that
If you’re looking for American based ones, I’ve really been enjoying Politickin’ with Gavin Newsom. I’ve only listened to a few episodes so far but they’re not quite the level of doom that others are.
I used to listen to a podcast called #millennial (you have to use the # when searching to find the right one) that was pretty good like that - hosts are all left leaning and they do a decent job of stating facts but also not leaning too hard into the doom of it all more than necessary.
Oh my God, I have the same question! So much this! I need to find something to listen to on the way to work that will give me strategies and advice for resistance, but doesn't make me want to off myself.
Head in The Office on Spotify and Apple podcast go leave a five star review and they'll read it on the pod !! New episodes every Wednesday for regular listeners and Sundays for patreon supporters. Very funny pod
I enjoy the Majority Report and Colonial Outcasts. There’s a community feel to them and both discuss getting through this and building the replacement in a way that gives me some hope.
Actually, HRC reads & records her Substacks & publishes them as a podcast - it's not a traditional podcast, but you can listen to it on your podcast app in the car. I find her hopeful because she puts current events in historical context - the U.S. has been through similar things & gotten thru them.
Don’t know where you’re from. I live in London and listen to Pod Save the UK. It’s not daily, it’s weekly, but they’ve been on for over a year and have really good insights. Plus they’re funny and witty. They’re from the same family as Pod Save America and Pod Save the World…
@jemmaforte.bsky.social & @marina-purkiss.bsky.social are passionate about the injustice and corruption (corruption, corruption) that goes on but they’re also funny and real and make light of a lot of the doom and gloom that surrounds us. First rate!
Heather Cox Richardson's "Letters From an American" comes out as a podcast most weekdays. She's on Substack, and I'm not sure what other media outlets.

I keed. I keed.
I even enjoy her Sunday photos by her husband, and a photographer friend. They are all beautiful.

Following for ideas anyway😂
On a serious note, I find NPR's Up First, a good overview, and very informative.

All the shows all day long on SiriusXM Progress channel are good.
This one’s the less depressing one’s I listen to. Also has reliable info from a military/geopolitics perspective
Sorry, best I can do 😆

Theirs is the only podcast I've listened to consistently!

What a Day has actual news which will make you feel however the truth makes you feel but they are also funny.
also love how to protect the ocean, it’s more fact based and addresses issues on both sides
It’s not sunshine and rainbows, but I get a few laughs and learn things.
Hosted by Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, 3X/wk podcast.
The Daily Beans
Hosted by former federal employees, daily news.
The Damage Report
Hosted by John Iadarola, daily progressive commentary.
The BradCast
Hosted by Brad Friedman, progressive news & analysis.
Not daily but quality. You're welcome!
News with swearing 😉
Her "Letters From an American" can be emailed to you as audio. It's not exactly a podcast, but it's audio rather than text.
There’s so much dooming and negativity around leftist discourse, it needs to change
