I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

Keep it up 👍🏽 ❤️
Make sure you are actively investing in mutual aid if you’re a white privileged person, redistribution of wealth and resources it’s the most effective way to make real change in communities 🙏🏾
And we had the Dropkick Murphys!
I’m in (very red) SW FL and I expected:
1) a lot fewer people, and
2) a lot more trouble.
I was pleasantly surprised on both counts.
Rise, all who value your children and future generations.
I saw a cop drive by. Nothing to see. Middle age middle class white people ...
But this movement will have no effect on our authoritarian govt unless it eventually provokes govt violence against civilian protests.
Then the police will show themselves.
Remind everyone of that if the police presence is ramped up on future marches and heavy-handed police tactics are claimed to be necessary.
But Woke will not be silenced.
peaceful protest 💙
NYC 🫶
Trying to cause damage and injury while pretending to be anti-Trump, anti-Musk but with the intent of causing people to turn away from the 'violence' of the protests.
All caused by Trump's 'pro-civil war' minions.
Creepy huge # of cops
Phoenix was like a all hands on duty day
(And wonderful about 'no incidents.' That's the way to do it!)

Great Job American Patriotic Supporters Of Democracy And Constitution!
Could it be that having fewer police keeps protests safer and more peaceful?
Good for the FOX News set
Only 44 folks to stop, what, thousands?
Tell me again why people are being so peaceful with this?
The people currently running the federal government are causing everyone harm, why would we make it worse for some random person or business?
If a movement is not disruptive, then a movement can be ignored.
Much like how the Women's March did very little to protect Roe v Wade when the orange bastard was elected the first time.
You sound like an instigator.
But the marches and attitude of people in general led many states to subsequently enshrine abortion rights in their constitution.
A lot happens at the state/local level.
If marching doesn’t do anything, that same number of people or more stopping work will make an impact.
And if you remain purely nonviolent and the other side chooses violence anyway, it looks very bad on them.
Huh?!

expect the numbers that turned up.
The NYTimes, WaPo cover opposition quite well, both in deep articles and opinion pieces.
Further more the left-wing media outlets MSNBC et. al. have never stopped the critic ever since the mid 10's.
Fox 'news' et. al. on the other hand ...
MSNBC is just useless and worthless
“Foreign” media — our media — covers the US far better than your own when it comes to the resistance. We know because we follow both.
FYI, I'm an European citizen.
Here is a very small sample:
It’s so weird watching the Fox/Jones tactics get used for good.
For police. A peaceful crowd.
✌️
Though it is good to hear that the cops are controlling themselves this time and not roughing up protesters like we’re the enemy. That’s a BIG change
That's why I've been saying keep these rally's during the day!
If only these poor people knew …
Their success makes them the last of their kind.
Grim, isn’t it?
that didn't change anything either
The Free World stands with you
Well done !!
Same time same place next weekend..
and the next weekend...
and the following weekend
Keep going until trump releases his thugs,
his private militia -
Proud boys and Oath keepers
Goad trump into showing his real intent-
Dictatorship
They appear violent because of police involvement to disallow protesting.
So 🥹 of the people.
So unlike J6.
They had their act together by the time we laggards reached Peachtree.

Love retired NJ educators 💜watching our students rise up
Great.
now what ?
Because protests alone won't stop Trump.
Whats the strategy ?
Tactics ?
Because if the idea is to protest for.4 years until next elections then America is finished.
So what's the plan ?
It’s literally defined here

You have two years to the mid terms
Four years to the next election
And about two weeks until April 20th
You think a handful of masked Proud Boys or mad militia infiltrators with pistols in the middle of a march of thousands cannot create chaos ?
Or a drive by on a demo trigger chaos ?
The protests are going to get bigger as things worsen, making infiltration by bad faith actors easier.
- networking
- recruiting
- show of force
- giving hope
So mainly, talk about it and use it as a springboard. many are just as unhappy as you and wanna do something. who capitalizes on it in the end is an open question, but it's good to see people still give a damn.
440 officers?
INCIDENTS.
Unbelievable turnout.
QED
In Germany, we have a rather dry saying which goes „da haben sich zwei gefunden“, "two have found each other", describing a road rage shouting match for example 😅
(Applies nicely to Trump and Muskkk - but we really don’t deserve them.)
