It’s not the first time this has been done. A rancher in California paid for a cougar to get titanium fangs after he broke his own off trying to get out of a trap. He was under care for 11 of the required 12 months to prove the fangs viable when he died from an infection.
We use gold teeth in humans too, it doesn't corrode and has a similar hardness to enamel. Yes, this is real. Her name is Cara, and she is at a sanctuary in Germany.
Contemporary crowns (at least up until a few years ago) actually weren't as good as gold ones. Easier to shape, cheaper, but less resistant to wear and with less tolerance to pressure. You only really want to do any (dental) surgery on a cat once if you can help it, it's a lot of stress.
Have pets, be geeky, talk to a veterinary dentist a few times, could be wrong, it's all hearsay but that's how it was explained to me when I asked because I saw a picture of a lion with a gold tooth.
Nah apparently still true, the gold ones still just last longer and are more resistant to damage. They've been used for 4000 years for a reason, don't blame the Doc because the kitty now looks extra badass.
Too bad Mr Bond will shoot the poor thing before it can sink its teeth in him, because its master will -as always, of course- leave the scene and not oversee wether his deadly trap is successful.
FYI: 🦷
What's dental gold?
Dental gold is an alloy of gold and other metals, such as silver, tin, copper, or palladium. Pure gold is too malleable to be used in the mouth without deforming.

I took the photo at Dartmoor Zoological Park (the zoo that inspired We Bought a Zoo).
Gold is also very expensive, which is why by and large *your* crowns are made of something else.
1600 fangstasylvania?
The tigress since then has lost the golden fang but it does well at the german sanctuary where she resides.
(in the wild especially)
we don't deserve to be saved
