I think they're just all on one of the many Blue MAGA block lists with the "you have to follow everyone back or you're a terrorist" hashtag resist grifters
if any americans or canadians reading this would be interested, i’m making a discord server for americans considering asylum and canadians willing to help out. i’d be happy to send you all a link if you’re interested!
human rights are actively on the line, trans folks are in danger and are facing a genocide, immigrants and people of colour who have been living there for their entire lives are being forced out on the basis of literal nazism. this isn’t about privilege, it’s about survival
Human rights are always on the line, the only genocide is one Biden supported, Obama forced out 3 million people... It's about Democrat hysteria and American privilege. You're not getting asylum: you don't need it.
this is like when people (probably a lot of the same people) are like "What were the cops supposed to do, ENDANGER THEMSELVES!?" yes that is literally their job, that is the job they chose, that's why we give them fucking guns
They expect more out of the wagies like me making them food or sweeping floors or bringing door dash orders than out of literal cops and politicians. This country is insane.
The 3 branches part is right, but I feel all of the current party in power pay at most lip service to the constitution, and often ignore it completely.
You should be right, but I don't feel like that it the case anymore.
so... in your mind you are a politician and accountable as such for the rest of your life, even if you aren't in office anymore? No such thing as retiring from public service to become a private citizen?
politicians are free to retire from public life and service, but that person should then not show up asking for my vote again later unless they've worked extremely hard to organize for their political cause in the intervening four years, especially when their party is in crisis
Beliving politicians "dont owe you" if you don't give them everything they want is the primo example to show that you treat politics like a sports competition rather than anything important.
Like sorry I don't treat a presidental elect the same way I treat a game developer not giving me updates for an upcoming project but I would like to be able to live past thirty.
1000% agreed. I am as much a private citizen as she is with 25% as much education in general and .01% of her knowledge in law and governance, yet I am expected to fight the regime too.
When we’re in the throes of a fascist dictatorial coup, you don’t get the luxury of saying “told ya so” and ✌️ out
To be fair, he's one of the funniest posters on the site. Every week or so he asks why the legacy media is laundering right wing talking points and then gets furious when people point out he can just ask his coworkers at the New York Times.
1. Saying "period" isn't a magic totem that turns gibberish into fact. It makes you look like a scared teenager.
2. She could have called it a genocide.
3. She could have not sided with police suppression of 1A assembly.
4. She could have promised M4A.
5. She could have promised livable min wage.
So no, she in fact did the bare fucking minimum, and honestly wasn't great at that.
What you meant was "my loyalty to the Democrat Party supersedes my desire to have leaders that actually do shit, because I'm too privileged to be materially affected by politics, so it's like religion to me."
She knew she was losing and doubled down on trying to appeal to the only demographics of voters Trump had in lockdown. The things she could have done to win would have upset some wealthy lobbyists, but they were still doable.
in a perverse way its actually really impressive/interesting that a nation founded on casting off monarchies ended up producing the most peasant-brained people in the modern world. electeds literally only have a career because of voters! thats how it works! their purpose is for us to yell at them!
one of the more ominous implications of this mindset and how many elected dems also hold it is that its forgotten that this system was a "gift" to both the people and the electeds. we peacefully elect these goobers INSTEAD of mobs murdering them to remove them from office!
I am a (minor) politician. The moment I first won elected office (if not before) I forfeited any claim to being a private citizen. I have, and always will have, exercised power on behalf of the public. I should be *permanently* accountable for that, that's the job.
As it should be. But even beyond that — until there's another primary, she's the DNC's frontrunner. With a fresh Chair this year, she's arguably the highest-profile Dem in the country right now. Her job is to at bare min be the party's biggest mouthpiece.
Going to need a long hard discussion of what “leader of a political party” is supposed to be vs what these weirdos think it is, which is a meaningless figurehead that makes it possible for them to continue to play Wordle guilt free.
harris, as she is no longer in office, has a better opportunity than most democrats right now to start organizing an opposition at the street level. I want to see her hitting the pavement every day, pressers with unions, rallying outside of tesla dealerships, etc. that's politics
Wow, you're right, politicians shouldn't do things if it means they'll be criticized. Thank god we had you here to remind us that politics is just a popularity contest to see who's going to be our favourite celebrity, and that their feelings are the #1 priority.
Chappell Roan doesn't owe me anything. The former Vice-President of the United States who then ran for President of the United States under the party I'm registered to most assuredly does.
This is a great essay on the "spoils system" and corruption, and how the US made a concerted effort to make sure that government employees work for us (which Trump is now trashing): https://hudebnik.dreamwidth.org/1239156.html
If you want to know how an elected official feels about their duty, refer to them as a public servant. Do it loudly. Do it often. See who understands their task, it is quickly clear who doesn’t get it.
Going on Nextdoor and whenever I see a post about someone being ripped off by a plumber or a handyman, commenting “that plumber doesn’t owe you anything!”
I'm sure they earn a lot more from private engagements than they do from the public coffers. Their payor isn't the important point: it's that they've been entrusted with public power.
I agree but there's also the fact that in a sense what with things like social security they also quite literally Owe You Money
both of these things can be true
My politicians don't owe me shit, because I didn't vote for them, wouldn't vote for them, wouldn't pee on them if they were on fire, and kind of hope they have a stroke...and we are both acutely aware of this fact.
Right. Yet this administration or really this regime is solely focused on taking from you. They have reversed it and turned it on its head and now we owe THEM.

how are so many folks satisfied with so little
You should be right, but I don't feel like that it the case anymore.
When we’re in the throes of a fascist dictatorial coup, you don’t get the luxury of saying “told ya so” and ✌️ out
It's an all time great bit.
2. She could have called it a genocide.
3. She could have not sided with police suppression of 1A assembly.
4. She could have promised M4A.
5. She could have promised livable min wage.
What you meant was "my loyalty to the Democrat Party supersedes my desire to have leaders that actually do shit, because I'm too privileged to be materially affected by politics, so it's like religion to me."
Jesus Christ, stop kissing her warmongering transphobic pig-cop boots - it’s disgusting. Period.
How can VPOTUS be any different?
They are in deep denial over what their choices have brought.
Grow the fuck up. Right now.
(also Chappell Roan doesn't owe us anything because she's already given us so much 🥺)
They sure don't act like that.
both of these things can be true
thank you for saying this tho more ppl gotta hear it
It was their responsibility, while in power as civil servants, to safeguard the values that support this country.
If you take power and do nothing with it, then walk away like "I don't owe you anything..."
Somebody is going to come collect.
Otherwise it’s the highest bidder. That’s not okay.
- Politicians
- Plumber who promised to unclog your pipes (if you know what I mean)
