The core motivation of liberal ideology is personal comfort.
The Democratic establishment, their hangers on, the ladder climbers, all of their personal comfort comes from maintaining the status quo. They aren't going to do anything to change it.

Much as I hate Trump's name calling, he absolutely correct to call them "do nothing Democrats."

What is Will's (and people like him's) ideology? I think that's the problem. The people experiencing cognitive dissonance right now don't have one and need to fix that.
