I would suspect the X follower numbers are full of fake accounts or bots, plus the algorithm seems to favour certain accounts/viewpoints.

This place so far doesn’t have the fake account problem and certainly doesn’t artificially boost content that’s beed in effect paid for.

I'm getting a lot more engagement, too, and my follower size is about 10% so far. I only started building my account yesterday, though.
