Is this similar to trump 1.0 where (tho they were fought in court and told to halt) they separated families and deported adults and some of the kids still haven't been reunited ?
Seems like they are too cowardly too or realize they ultimately have no power under this admin and refuse to take that step because it makes it plainly visible for all to see. They just keep giving this admin more and more time to respond while going tsk tsk tsk in filings.
I'm just glad every single Senate Democrat voted to confirm this far right troll for Secretary of State - they would have looked so partisan if they had voted against him!
I’m assuming they know that an airplane is subject to the laws of the country where it is registered, even while flying over international waters or foreign territories…right?
The planes themselves are registered to the US and so according to the Tokyo Convention have to follow orders of the country from which they are registered.
Correct. Just making the point that in multiple ways this gambit is hella illegal and there’s no justification for it. It’s a full, willful defiance of a court order.
So, can we conclude from this, coming so early in the term, that tr*mp basically just wants to get the whole judiciary problem out of the way by forcing a SCOTUS decision that (he firmly believes) will rule his way? Thus, clearing the way for any and everything he intends to do?
So here we are. Not a lawyer but it seems that they have decided to just ignore the lower court and roll the dice at the SC banking that Roberts will be able to get a 5-4 ruling that Trump is actually the emperor.
The 1st thing that comes to mind when I read stuff like this is how easily state secrets likely fall out of their mouths on a routine basis without them even realizing it...
They are dumb people at their core.
Their ideology inhibits cognitive functions from being fully performed.
Should there be some kind of return to a democratic norm down there, and that’s a big if at the moment, the US is going to have to start whole new departments to get rid of the stain these current ones will leave behind.
Pam Bondi is a sick, twisted authoritarian bootlicker and Trump fluffer. The President is not a king, his has no authority, certainly not established, to deport anyone without due process. Fuck every one of these ghouls.
Yeah, the planes can be anywhere in the world and still be subject to the court’s order. And the order came into effect as soon as the judge made his oral ruling saying so.
You know more about this than me but the people flying the plane follow the orders of the people who were ordered to stop the plane who were in America.
On a side bite, I'd love to see just one military say they're not going follow nee orders because they received the over international waters.
I mean, if they want to run this insulting nonsense, then attach for them for contempt and make them tell the world who precisely they say has jurisdiction over a US-registered aircraft in international airspace.
And then report the damn lot of them to their regulators.
And you are missing the point. They were on the air at the time of the order and would not have been notified by the people who decided to defy the order. Nuremberg wouldn't apply because they had no ability to obey or disobey an unknown court order.
A law is only a law is law enforcement is willing to enforce it; otherwise, it is only a suggestion. I'll believe the law is a law when I see SoSOTUS Marco Rubio in handcuffs taking a perp walk.
What are the chances this prison scheme that makes no sense on its own terms is all to reward Bukele? Maybe he has been working with Trump and Rs for years to help conjure up caravans and other threats in order to game US media and elections
Normally foreign leaders are intelligent enough not to openly antagonize one of the US political parties in a partisan way, expect that there will be a lesson why that is the case in this guy’s future
Given the nature of my work I am often in the yes, this is morally wrong but also normal when it comes to immigration stuff. I was along those lines here bc they could have sent them before the order etc etc, and we’d need to see if they were returned.
They really think they can talk out of both sides of their mouths and no one will notice but they can’t help highlighting how clever they are while ignoring that the thing about plausible deniability is it needs to be plausible.
No person shall be … deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law….

Sadly, they seem to be too imbecile to realize how shameful this is.
Will they be so jailed?
That’s the bridge we need to cross first. Your questions good one, but we’re like a mile away from that even being the relevant concern.
First we need a judge to stand up for the judiciary
They are dumb people at their core.
Their ideology inhibits cognitive functions from being fully performed.
Just a bunch of fucking toddlers all the time - "I'm not breaking the law, YOU'RE breaking the law!"
Welp.
On a side bite, I'd love to see just one military say they're not going follow nee orders because they received the over international waters.
He minimized everything about the Russian connections and still treats all the Cassandras like they are loons.
And then report the damn lot of them to their regulators.
It is not legal for US military members for follow 'unlawful' orders.
Go after the pilots and charge them with breaking a federal judges order!!!
Isn't that precisely why the judge had the emergency ruling?
I'd be interested in the actual timelines.
It would have to be a state to prosecute and Im not sure that is possible.
womp womp ;-(
Thought they were still focusing on Biden’s age?
"in your face" type
I guess if we're gonna do the Constitutional Crisis thing, there's no reason to slow roll it 🙃
Courts can't fight messaging.

Nothing but cruelty and their delight in it
When will republican house realise they support and condone a convicted felon as president ?
my guess - come mid terms - when they have nothing/lot to lose
This post? Yeah it’s contempt all the way.
dismantling the rule of law to consolidate his power and weaponize the judiciary.

I wonder if the money markets will do.
"we've given up on the rule of law" is likely to drive investment away.
At some point there should be a credit rating downgrade surely?
