Watching sports and cooking help a lot but the direction in which our country is going causes anger and anxiety which I cannot fully suppress. The trends need to be understood and we must do all we can to push back HARD to do all we can to save our threatened democracy‼️
Getting out in the streets with like-minded people and shouting outside Parliament. Writing letters to MPs. Educating myself so my resistance can be more effective. And once my sons exams are over, GETTING ARRESTED for direct action,
I had ankle surgery in the fall, so my garden is a mess too. I've graduated from being a wheelchair gardener to being a rollater gardener. Doing anything I can outside keeps me sane. Just go outside and breathe. It'll help.
I have been doing a deep dive into Paul McCartney’s solo career and Wings. Listening to every album, reading the lyrics, watching every music video and interview I can find. I’m a millennial. Lol
I work in campaign finance compliance for Dems and democratic PACS. I have been throwing myself into my work and working unhealthy hours to keep busy. It also in a way makes me feel like I'm doing something good for our side.
Dems are not "our side." Allying ourselves with Clinton, Obama, and Biden is how we got here. Our side is just people. People who are empathetic, make informed decisions, and do what they can to make their own community better. Please take care of yourself. Burnouts are no joke.
I’m from Ireland and with the time difference the news always changes, this happens one day, then it changes.
I had to stop dooms day scrolling, I found podcasts are a better source than social media, they give me hope that things aren’t as bad as what it seems, ear pods in, have a walk and listen🇮🇪
Being with my family, talking to my girlfriend about our future together, and appreciating the little things in life that I sometimes take for granted.
Hope. Hope for a better world. Hope that we as Americans can see that throughout history all evil tyrants, all cruel emperors, and all corrupt dictators have been removed by the people. Every authoritarian government has a limited rule. We the people will do what we need to do, it is our time.
Every night my husband and I play scrabble. We do not watch any news on TV.
Of course we read the news. But disconnecting at night is important. Everything is really on overload right now...everything is tragic. It is important to find peace and some happiness.Being in nature and playing scrabble💛🙏🏻💫✨️
Treasure this. My wife and I played scrabble every night for decades. She always won. I really disliked losing all the time, but it was an act of togetherness. Now she has Alzheimers and does not now who I am and will not play Scrabble. Now I would give anything to lose another game to her.
I do treasure this time with my husband. My Grandmother had Dementia. My mother has dementia. I had breast cancer. I know how precious our time & beloveds are on this Earth. I am so sorry your wife has alzheimers. I am sending you huge amounts of love energy to your wife and yourself. You are brave.
making sure I look at @in-otter-news.bsky.social; T’ai chi; my family, especially the cats; live music (any music really); walking on the beach near our house Whidbey Island & always seeing bald eagles and herons and if we’re lucky seals, sea lions and/or river otters; spending time with friends
Knowing no matter how #intolerable it is now, it has always been a struggle for many in this country’s history and that people are fighting injustice every day under much more repressive conditions in this world.
Swimming nearly every morning. Playing with the kiddos. Gardening. Writing. Doing productive work. Volunteering. Listening to music. Going to self defense classes.
At 66 playing Tom Clancy Ghost Wars on my PS4 is so therapeutic, takes my mind off things and I can make believe the ultimate baddy is FOTUS and the others are his cohorts. It’s great taking them down! Brilliant open world game.😂
Working with grad students and science teachers who are bringing my dream project (climate justice action research) to life (with middle and high school students) in the most inspiring ways. Young ppl give me so much hope. Also, surfing :).
The Americans who stand for “we the people” and “democracy” keep me sane. Acknowledging truth and the journalism that stands for integrity keeps me sane. Bernie and AOC keep me sane. Bluesky keeps me sane. Hope keeps me sane. (The hope for impeachment and incarceration keeps me protesting) Truth.
Volunteering in a homeless outreach program. I may not be able to turn the tide of social justice at a Federal or State level but I can make a difference locally, in my own community.
We had 3800 visits last year for clothing, a single days worth of food, heat relief and showers. A true community effort because everything was through donations of goods and services and 100% volunteer run. We are projecting 5000 visitors this year. The need is great.
Music, walking to clear my head, reading, writing poetry or haikus, meditation, making art, and doing crafts. They always make me feel so relaxed and calm
Colbert, Kimmel, Seth... They help make the horror story we're living in a tad bit funny. And to hear the audience laughing reminds me that we're not alone.
I take breaks from all social media & news sites, using the Freedom app. It's described as a "productivity tool," but I use it to give myself *breaks* from online productivity. Anywhere from 6 hours to 3 days.
Local rallies where passion meets purpose. My Episcopal church, a beacon of social justice, nourishes my spirit. Mindfulness, encouraging me to embrace kindness and patience—with a side of love—for those who matter most..
Currently? Korean series. I listen in Korean with English subtitles, which keeps me from multitasking (doomscrolling) on my laptop. It's an immersion in a completely different culture and no Trumper types onscreen.
The small amount i can do to show the world we aren't all MAGA. I'm in Indonesia right now on a bucket list vacation financed by selling my Tesla. Most here want to get to the US for higher wages, im trying to explain how dangerous that is.
I also foster dogs and cats, which brings me great joy.
Trees. Animals. Music. Friends. George Carlin videos. Other comedians. Hiking. Art. Photography. Pranks. Feeling gratitude. Chocolate. Staying grounded. Occasional pure escapism. The sight and sound of sane people speaking out. You.
Speaking out against the MAGA initiatives of my local school board, supporting the arts, going running and walking, buying and reading good books, refusing to participate in things I disagree with in little ways, protesting for the first time ever on April 5th.
I also volunteer--I make quilts for Lutheran World Relief, I pack food for the hungry, I sing in choir and in the shower, I donate time and goods to a cleaning/hygiene supply pantry for the poor. And Book Club because I really need it.

listening to music and cooking
Not even reading helps now. It has been my escape since I was a child and now he ruined that for me.
Also getting my dogs out for walks twice a day helps.
Plus the NWSL, especially the Chicago Stars. And Athletes Unlimited softball.
The fact that our northern neighbor looks likely to remain the True North, Strong and Free.

Refinishing a table. Petting my dog. Watching Shohei play zen baseball. ⚾️

We still have a chance.
No news! No local. No national. No CNN. No MSNBC.
and God
Taylor Sheridan's shows.
Need breaks from the current administration. It brings out my inner Beth Dutton. 😈 (I was mouthy before I had the inspiration!)
I am currently in withdrawal.
"The life of the sane, average man was dull, worse than death."
"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead."
"There are times when insanity becomes so real that it isn’t insanity anymore."
The knowledge that human mortality has our backs
(but we should still get off our butts)
But I bet it could help others!

2. Seeing people resist is amazing.
3. The digital wellbeing app on my phone. It lets you limit how long you can use Bluesky, YouTube, etc. 😄 🤣
