"Use the pool water to flood the server room to delete the surveillance footage" is the most Sierra adventure game solution to a problem I've ever heard

My husband notes that if this guy was in the SA forums back in the day, he’d be aware of the server flood destruction due to hurricane kateina that bodied the site at the time, just sayin’.
Oh, he's going to PRISON prison... I don't even know how you'd charge for destruction of evidence in a capital crimes case. Does that default to treason? Gosh, I can't imagine how severely that could be played out in sentencing.
"30 years later, the company still receive angry missives from fans regarding the solution to "the golf course server room problem"-- even releasing licensed merchandise with a reference to the frustration people felt"
Wow, I remember this exact puzzle, and I remember wondering how the removal of the text parser, in a later edition of the game, was going to impact the difficulty.
I've often reflected that so much of Trump's behavior in this, including "accidentally" flooding the server room, can be explained by what he falsely believes Hillary Clinton got away with.

Considerable Spencer Mansion vibes too - racist guy with eugenicist friends, weird spacial drainage system, confidential files scattered around, home to a tyrant
I'm actually really into the idea of a Sierra adventure game where you play as Trump, moving classified documents around and lying about them so you can impress a 65 year old car dealership owner you know
Per the earlier indictments, they were able to get a good deal of video from offsite (backup? the monitoring company?) showing boxes being moved in and out, staff visiting, etc, and that's what provided probable cause for the initial warrant.
It gets interesting. Water itself (even with chlorine), just flooding them for a short period will do bad things to the drives' electronics, but won't actually affect the data on the platters -- since those are hermetically sealed. And replacing the drive's motherboard is easy.
im sure it in part depends on how long it was flooded for and the water chlorination %, but also in a whole server room, seems pretty easy for plenty of drives to have air bubbles or never get wet cause waters not high enough or be waterproofish or whateverrr
If it was a Sierra game I'd expect the pool only drained after an elaborate synchronized swimming number was disrupted by you pulling the stopper at the bottom using a long crook you traded for a fancy book from a rhyming turtle.
It would also have, ya know, worked.
imo it has one of those LucasArts vibes where you may not necessarily know what the result of your actions is going to be, but you know that generally fucking things up for other people advances the story
> inventory
You have a hose, water pump, rope, and a paper clip.
> connect hose to pump
Sorry, you can't do that.
> connect hose to water pump
Connected.
> put hose in pool
You aren't close enough for that.
> walk to pool
You connect the hose to the water pump and a rush of anticipation fills the air. The pump hums to life and water begins to trickle out of the end of the hose onto the pool deck.
There is an opulent mansion to the north, the sunbathing area to the west, and the server room to the east.

Is the server in a special basement that's under the pool?

*ad for a mobile puzzle game where you have to flood a server room*
Anyway. It wouldn't really prevent anyone with a medium-sized budget from getting at the data.
It would also have, ya know, worked.
I would have simply quit.
