1. Not my cats.
2. Some cats do gain weight even when fed properly after being spayed or neutered. Like with humans obesity isn't always as straightforward as *just* how much they eat.
Jimmy was a skin and bones rescue, part Maine Coon who was 9 lbs. Over-loved him up to 16lbs. All 3 rescues needed to lose weight. Slow process. Counted the calories they needed and slowly reduced the portions to equal it over time. Took time but Jimmy's a much healthier 12lbs now. Loves food! πΎβ₯οΈ
Fixing and it seems like cats that came from being in situations where they were actually starving do too. Itβs like their bodies overcorrect or something. My friend had 3 cats all fed the same 2 regular one chonky. The chonky one couldnβt even get to the others food to steal it.
Yeah I have a few fat cat theories that make me look a little crazy π I just canβt help but think thereβs something about fat cats biology that needs more study than βcalories in calories out!β
Agreed. Calories are only part of the equation and while they're the obvious thing we can point at, biology is more complex than simplified models show.
those babies need a diet. I had to put my chonk on it when he got up to 18.8 pounds. Neither of us were happy at the time, but he's much healthier now, and able to groom his whole body.
Ok, it time to cut back to 1 can each Kitty because this is "Cat Abuse" or get them a circle treadmill with a dangling playtoy to chase while burning off those "Kitty pounds"π
two blue selves and one black self, all have medium white! assuming the three of these kitties are siblings, one parent is a dilute and the other parent is nondilute but still carries that dilution gene! i <3 cat genetics

Yeah you hear it
("I get knocked down, and I get up again.....")
I hope theyβre able to find their way to unlaboured breathing and mobility soon.
I see chonk applied a little to liberally imo
Maybe theyβve lost weight by now.

Big cats ARE cute

This is not healthy, and those cats are going to suffer the consequences.
Very sad.
