The question is not why the fuck you took so long to write the novel but why the novel was so recalcitrant that it has delayed its completion? Wrtings have a mind of their own that they steal from their authors....
It comes with the territory. And has a way of intruding on one's middle-of-the-night sleep when a gut-grabbing phrase strikes out of the blue. Don't ask. I feel your pain.
Because knowing you have the chops to write a damn fine piece of literature it also takes some time. The end product is a very great fruit of your hard labor and a gift as an author ✍️.
I don't write but I did drive on Christmas so a certain Doggo Argentina puppy could meet her new forever friend. Driving pets is what I do. I hear all your books on audio cause that's how I get to read. Waiting patiently for your next one. Will Will be narrating again?
Is there a time limit on writing novels, or is that imposed by the publisher, just asking asking, I have a noel that will never be finished, I call it my never ending story. It has ghost, demons, monsters and even angels, and mystic animals, centered around two Royal Brothers and family and friends.
It's amazing when you finally get that creative spark after so long. I've been meaning to write out some ideas I've had for over 10 years, but I keep waiting and waiting. Be sure to write your stuff down because someone else might be thinkin the same ideas and beat you to the punch when they publish
Maybe that's part of your problem, you don't let yourself off for the day to actually enjoy your life, to celebrate Christmas, to enjoy some frivolity!
Take some time off to enjoy yourself, you'll come back re-inspired.
Love sci-fi. Hadn't read your work because time got weird 20 years ago, and I stuck to my known authors. Since following you here, I have inhaled one book, and I am waiting for my children to go to sleep so I can start book 2 of all of the rest of them. Thanks for writing.
My daughter, who I introduced to your books, gave me a new copy of Redshirts, signed by you - thanks to youir kind willingness to go to Jay & Mary's bookshop to sign the book they then provided to her. Thanks so much!
If, (you have the time), you could go back in time to give yourself a pointer in how to get to where you are now, faster. What would you say? Always been interested in writing, but don't know how to begin.
I gave my son a signed, personalized copy of KPS -- all thanks to you going to the effort of signing books at Jay and Mary's. He received everything he asked for, including gaming systems, Lego and various toys, and said that book, which was a surprise, was his favorite thing. Thank you, sir.

Comic book deadlines don’t stop for Santa, so I’m flatting some pages before helping cook part of a dinner for 15 people.

It was either that or wrap presents for my wife.
Fooling around with a 3d printed prototype much more fun.
Merry Christmas!
