Damn! Planet Scalzi has 100's of moons! It must feel as if the moons' gravity is pulling you in many different directions, and perhaps 'molding' you like cheese! ;)
Can't wait to listen to it. I can't read for long periods with my brain injury(eyes), but Wil Wheaton is amazing and has helped me through many long night. Thank you both.
John, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid your dedication to posting regularly on Bluesky has had the unfortunate side-effect -- unintentional, I'm sure! -- of making me want to read more of your books. I apologise for this, and I will try as hard as I can to resist.
I am relieved sir, thank you for asking. The love of my life had a 9 hour spinal surgery yesterday. I've neve been so happy to hear the word "uneventful" in my life. Please enjoy these pictures of moss agate from Arizona I took under my microscope. All from the same rock, about 20 mm across.
Oh. John, be careful. I wrote a book longhand in 1988 (no computer!) -1000 pp narrow ruled—and now years later I do not have good functioning in that hand.
Got up, fed the cat, got dressed, topped up the bird feeders, put a load in the washing machine, made dough for tea cakes (that's resting), hung out the washing outside (hurrah!), cursed the garlic cloves in their little tray for not yet sprouting, made tea, opened Bluesky and saw this post.
I did this for the first time yesterday and it was awesome, but looking at how my signature changed from start to finish, I realized too late I should've taken a break 😬
Ink will smear, blue into a goo,
Black into a glob, and you'll sigh "more disaster."
Folks will grunt, shoving to the front
Thinking "O.M.G., can't he write faster?"
Comments
Vaguely tired. 🥱
Good enough for Joe…good enough for you!
😂😉
arm’s a sore-ay
The signed books are stacked high
That's John Scalzi
I am English and when I heard the song Amore I suffered from the Mondigrene, of thinking that it went:-
"When the moon hits your eye
Like a big piece of pie!"
NB I had not heard of Pizza until I was 22 years old.
I will look your book up, thanks
Just woke up. Exhausted.
I would like to get one for my son, even though he is not old (yet!). Any chance you’re going to visit Alabama?
🌕 very cheesy look tonight!
Who knew that nice kid from Star Trek also reads books?
autopen like Don.
Voilà.
Also, congrats on the book to both Johns!
that’s amore
And you can't make a fist,
That's a signing.
When you've managed a scrawl,
Then hear "Not Paul, it's Saul!"
That's a signing...
Black into a glob, and you'll sigh "more disaster."
Folks will grunt, shoving to the front
Thinking "O.M.G., can't he write faster?"
That’s the shortlist
Don't have signing several hundred books as an explaination for it though.
If you're going to do that, just print the signature at press time and stop wasting your time.
Signatures and personal messages in-person by the author at a book signing event is where the value is.
The only book I have written was an SAT course manual... so I don't exactly have people lining up for signed copies.
Runs laughing from the room...
