I actually made two things this weekend: my son and I made a mess trying to make some minor household repairs & I made plans for a bucket-list trip to Kitch-iti-kipi in Michigan this summer. Look it up, it cool!
Made unicorn cupcakes for my kid last week. No birthday or anything special, just because. (They were not my favorite, as I don't care for fondant or the flavor of frosting requested, but they made my kids happy and I'm happy with the rainbow frosting effect.)
My book, Uncredited: Women’s Overlooked, Misattributed, and Stolen Work, comes out in May. I'm visiting a friend in Canberra, so taking a copy on a "book tour" - here it is with a self-portrait of Aussie painter Nora Heysen, who's in the book, at the NGA. https://www.infinite-women.com/books/
Spent some time playing around with some new air dry clay this weekend and got these earrings done, along with 3 other pairs and a set of copper demon horns for a costume!
Showing-and-telling about this vest knit with yarn provided by my friend's Jacob sheep and dyed by me with dye plants grown in my garden and foraged in my yard. The fasteners are sheep horn. Dyeing & knitting keeps me sane in this insane country. #showmeyourknits
After several years of saying I was going to, I finally actually started writing handwritten letters to loved ones far away. Today I might even mail 3!
I recently found a letter from my dad. Just seeing his scribbly handwriting brought him back to me. Then, I started thinking about how many people in my life I will lose, with nothing to remember them by other than posts on a screen.
I have enjoyed watching the original Twilight Zone. 1980s kid version of me was always afraid it would be too scary. It’s making my mind think about the big existential stuff in a way that is profoundly moving. It’s just beautiful. I’m way late to the bandwagon, I know…
The oldest of my Beastie Boys, Hiro! My sister gave him to me, I think he's got some Heeler and Husky and mercy only knows what else. He's my sweetest angel baby and is making a face because he saw another dog approaching
I had to give up the idea of "coloring inside the lines." Once I bent my brain around that, it was really fun! But I'm a fairly rigid person so that part was my challenge. 🙃
It’s duckling season at Disneyland, and I spied this mama and her babies. It doesn’t matter what people are rushing to do at DL—they will always stop to admire the ducklings!
One of our Kiwi at work just had his first birthday not too long ago. We are all so happy he is healthy and doing well! His name is Pakō and we love him so much #conservationFTW
I made food!
like it's just yoghurt with fresh fruit, but these days I rarely have the capacity to prep even simple stuff so I'm proud of me
and it was 😋😋
Finally on sock #2! I bought the yarn in Germany in 2023 and had planned to have them knitted by Christmas 2024, but, life. They should be finished by December 2025.
I'm really happy with how this turned out! I'm putting the finishing touches on a portrait of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Conquest, the character he voiced in the show Invincible.
Do you guys know about the Minack theatre? Carved into the Cornish cliffs at Porthcurno, in the very south west of England where the English channel meets the Atlantic. Built in the 1930s and with lines of benches that overlook the stage & water, it's a dramatic backdrop to any production.
I missed seeing this, but here's something that happened Sunday - my wife randomly came home with a Victrola. It actually works. Needs a little love, crank handle is a bit rusty in spots, etc. But it's beautiful.

I wrote and recorded this item using a laptop microphone while in Canada a few years ago.

For years he only ate like 6 beige foods, so this transformation is miraculous.
