I want to replay it because I missed a few achievements but I can't work up the courage to go through it again. The ending is incredibly touching but just waterworks. OMG.
That's one of th saddest parts of the game. They dont seem to have ever gotten a goodbye. I honestly want answers as to why it tool Zidane at least a year to get back to Alexandria. Cid has airship. 🤷🏻♀️
RDR2, when Arthur comforts his dying horse, then leans down and whispers "thank you".
I cried like a baby... hell I got watery eyes just by writing this😢
I'm not a crier. And I had never cried with a game - not even Mass Effect with Thane's scene - until Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Twice. I cried two friggin' times. I'm still stunned it happened. Incredibly impressed with the writers' ability to convey emotional depth.
Baldur's Gate 3, both of The Last of Us games, The Walking Dead, Horizon Zero Dawn. Although making me cry isn't that hard of a feat considering I'm a crybaby 😂
People who don't emotionally connect with book or video game characters scare me because what do you mean you've spent all this time with them and feel NOTHING??
The whole story got me. One of my siblings passed away right after the game came out, so the whole thing about pain and loss and how as awful as they are, they’re necessary to being human was really on point.
That's how I ended up playing it, amazon prime gaming via twitch. Really good game. Not too long, but super good. watch out for the music puzzles - those were *really* hard for me.
Initially, Link's Awakening when I first played through it on my GameBoy Colour, when things started hinting towards what would happen when the Wind Fish awoke. Recently, Metaphor Refantazio, I still haven't beaten it, but they've all been through so much 😭
Oh god, yeah. When the game ended and I chose an ending that I didn't expect at all I would choose and I was like "friends, I need a hug" and they're all like "has someone died?" and I'm like "no, I just finished Cyberpunk 2077". Slightly embarrassing but...
I went with what I knew was the Canon ending (hopefully) riding off into the horizon... after that, I sat there for an hour and did not move, I was just weeping so much. This story was just top notch for me cause of the forced first person view (which I loved)
Oh yeah, the first person immersion was amazing. It's one of the only games I would feel bad about if I didn't make my character eat or sleep. It's like, "how can you be a top notch mercenary if you aren't resting enough?"
Well, at least with mods, the eating has no become more immersive than before. So now I spend hours just slow walking around, have a drink, grab a bite, shoot a baddie or two lol.
Oh, that is awesome. The story became very personal for me after the heist, then being called by Judy to come to her apartment. Mission after mission just nailing my emotions. Especially since the Judy apartment event brought up memories.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. During the game you go to some slums, and there is essentially a drug addict holding an email from his mom. She replied to an email he sent asking for forgiveness for his mistakes, and his mother forgives him and wishes she could just hold him as he dies from withdrawal.
Later in those same slums, you can come across three corpses. After some investigation, you can find out that it was a murder suicide because of the stress of a new pregnancy. Both of these moments brought tears to my eyes.
Oh god, it happens so easy for me 😭
The Last of Us 2
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Pokemon Scarlet
Mass Effect 2
Twilight Princess
Baldur's Gate 3
Breath of the Wild
Tears of the Kingdom
Horizon Zero Dawn was the first game to make me cry.
Then...
Death Stranding
RDR2
Forbidden West
The Last of Us 1&2
Baldur's Gate 3
The trailer for Death Stranding 2
Any game with a heroic sacrifice has a solid 80% chance it would have made me cry if this didn't happen to me all the time, causing me to develop a release trigger that helps me manage my emotions long enough to finish the game or save.
The rest were sad visual novels from my emo-gaming phase.
Recommend you check out other games in the To The Moon series if you haven't already (Finding Paradise, Impostor Factory, also the Beach episode but I haven't played it yet so can't say if I liked it). Both of them worked on me just as well
Oh, and my first BG3 run. I decided my motto for the run would be "agency", letting people have what they really wanted. Whole lot of pain on the docks.
One of my chief strategies used to be to build a lot of little fighters and salvage corvettes, and then when I encountered a big group of capital ships I would send in the fighters to fly around and create confusion while the salvage corvettes captured all the big ships
Later I found out lots of people do pretty much the same thing, and nobody had shared this idea around, it's just something that seemed cool. You wind up with a giant fleet of enemy ships at the end of the game
When you get to the specific moment of the game you will cry like a baby. I did and i think anyone would... Unbelievable what this game achieves with no words...
Final Fantasy 7 my favorite character Aerith you know what happens. The opening of Transformers Fall of Cybertron. Megatron attacks Bumblebee and he nearly dies this how they explain why he can’t speak anymore. Many others too
And he gets under control by the villain of Zestiria and knowing that and seeing where the cutscene was going I was extremely upset and emotional. It ruined the game for me honestly. Other than that bad taste I think Beresia and Zestiria are better tales of games then many say. They get hate.
Okay I just had one bubble up now I’ll be vague to avoid spoilers but Tales of Beresia is the prequel to Zestiria and if you complete both then when it’s revealed one of the heroes will become a god guardian I’m screaming at the tv during the cutscene cause this guardian gets corrupted…
It was so unexpected and absolutely heart wrenching in such a short period of time. It also gave important perspective about Joel and the motivation for his future decisions.
Life Is Strange. I never believed a game would ask you to make a choice between turning off or leaving on your best friend's life support......and it absolutely wrecked me.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and (it's been a while) Final Fantasy VII. I think the death of "that character" was the first loss experience for many children at the time.
People have said other games that made me cry like Mass Effect, but there’s this one that I loved but broke my heart (even with getting the best ending)
Oh, too many, I'm a crybaby. I can remember every single FFXIV expansion making me cry. Especially Shadowbringers, I was an absolute mess at my desk. Metaphor recently made me cry a few times, too. Again, too many. I cry easily. Heck, I even cry tears of joy during happy moments in games loooool
MGS3. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Persona 3. but nothing ever made me sob like To the Moon. and then for some reason, I was like why not let's play Finding Paradise AND Imposter Factory back to back 😭
I, myself, almost always go for Tali, but in terms of real tearjerker moments -- with ALL due respect to Mordin -- Legion's sacrifice is my close second.
So much so, in fact, that it ultimately got me to switch from Destroy to Synthesis on a regular basis.
Journey is one of the greatest games of all time IMO. It should be cheap because it's from 2012. For me, it's a must. It's the game I show to non - gamers who think they don't like video games, and then learn differently.
There may be a rose - colored glasses thing going on since I'm an older gamer. But if any elements seem familiar it's because everyone was influenced by it. It should be cheap and only 3-5 hours playthrough
I wonder if there's many ppl online though, that's the only thing that could lesson someone's enjoyment today. The feeling o had when another player was helping me and guiding me without using words. Majestic
I had multiple friends play all the way through and only at the end did I tell them that they were playing with other humans all along. Each one was flabbergasted and moved. Genius.
When I was younger the part in Kingdom Hearts 2 where Goofy gets hit in the head with a rock saving the king. I was too young to understand the plot roles so I cried cause Goofy is my favorite. Then he came back a bit later and I was happy and sad he was back.
Absolutely. Even now just thinking about that one particular countdown tune (I could look up the title but you know which one I mean), it sends chills.
None. Zero. Zip!
I love playing different card games, Dominoes, especially Mexican Train Dominoes! Uno. Where you sit at a table with other humans and interact and laugh, curse at someone else's move, laugh, cheer! Laugh!
Sorry- horrible childhood sibling fights; screaming, hitting, crying, throwing the redgreenyellowblue pieces into oblivion, tossing the board…
It was our favorite!
Very specific to me answer, but when I turned Dragon Quest XI on for the first time and heard the classic theme performed by the full Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, I welled up.
Also, believe it or not, InFamous. The day of the final battle, when we see Cole slept outside. That really got me.
🫡 Thank, BT-7274. But if I was interpreting the credits right, it seems like he may have survived somehow(possibly by backing himself up into Cooper’s helmet).
pretty sure he does kinda "back himself up" in Cooper's helmet during the time travel mission so that he and Cooper can still communicate despite being in different moments in time, but don't quote me on that
I saw that too so maybe. Not that Respawn is gonna do anything with the series lore anyway moving forward, unfortunately, so all we are left with is fan theories and head Canon.
Recently, Metaphor Refantazio. Baldur's Gate 3 as well. And before that, I outright BAWLED after finishing Persona 5 Royal. I think I usually cry after RPGs bc I spend a long time with the characters, fall in love, and get attached. Then I have to leave and it's like 🥲 I wanna stay longer!
The Guardians of the Galaxy game. It may be recency bias, since I played it last year, but this was a magnificent time to play. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and near the end was a heartfelt message that kicked my heart in the teeth.
They did my boy John Marston dirty in RDR and shit think I shed another in RDR2 for my boah Arthur Morgan and all the shit he went through in that game

What games made you angry?
Not death-raging, but emotionally invested in seeing the villain get taken down?
Final Fantasy 14 too for that matter.
To The Moon is the first game I remember genuinely making me sob.
Until Then got me with its first ending most recently.
FFXIV Endwalker.
Many JRPGs get me teary eyed by the end because I'm sad to be done immersing in a world after 100+ hours lol.
Hell I'm getting misty just typing this.
I did

When one of the lesbian bots blew her circuits out over the death of her girlfriend, I had to put the game down for a few weeks.
Didn’t try the last one, tho

Yakuza 6
Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon
Y7 Gaiden: Erased Name
Yakuza 8: Infinite Wealth
Lost Judgment
Gravity Rush 2
Red Dead II
Witcher III
Thats all i can think of lmao
So much so, in fact, that it ultimately got me to switch from Destroy to Synthesis on a regular basis.
Journey was my first cry, and opened my eyes to what games could be
Last of Us pt 1 - crying at the *beginning* of the game?? Till then, only Pixar could hook you into a protagonist that fast
Telltalle's The Walking Dead S1
If you know you know
1) the Fallout 1 intro with the trailing/looping "Maybe..." It's just too pertinent these days.
2) the Outer Wilds ending. Can't be described, must be experienced.

"We can't change what's done, we can only move on."
The Last of Us
"After all we've been through. Everything that I've done. It can't be for nothing.”
Also, believe it or not, InFamous. The day of the final battle, when we see Cole slept outside. That really got me.
I will regularly return to some of the major cutscenes just to feel the massive emotional catharsis again, even years later.
Dont call me out too lol
FF7 Crisis Core
FF7 Remake because of Crisis Core
FF14 Endwalker
Sea of Stars… like 3 times
