Literally took grad school classes on the trade and shipping container industry. All I know is there are more empty containers being moved on ships right now than during the Great Recession and the average American holds more personal debt.
I never understood this mindset. People are talking about an issue that affects them and sharing information they know/their understanding. They should do that.
That’s my point, it’s not like people are pretending to be experts and saying “this is my original research that’s equivalent to a phd. They are saying “well I heard this, and it seems reasonable, here’s why.” The whole “fake experts” thing ruins that.
i also know the EU has been trying form some time to dump russian imports of aluminum and they charge the EU more then canada charges usa so why are we selling to a nation that treats us like shit
fact we are what 75%ish of fertilizer to usa ( potash)
and in fact ALL of my grocery bill NON USA btw, went down in prices over last few months shows the nation was already prepared for it
even graphic cards are cheaper in canada
then they arent researching like i have and learned a ton
how much trade our nation does with hom ( 56 free trade deals with non usa nations and 99 other trade deals for example )
how much an actual impact stopping all our steel and aluminum would do to usa
Not me I have ordered online for years and know when I'll get a package early based on the shipping state. I have also correctly called when my packages would get "lost" twice. So I spoke from deep experience and I am available for any podcast or news program.
I worked in merch for one of the largest American companies for 4 years. Been sharing some of my experience & knowledge of what’s happening & shipping timelines etc online. Been told by many a cult member I don’t know what I’m talking about. 99.9% chance their kid owns something my company imported
My son-in-law does international shipping logistics for several U.S. companies. He's been back & forth to Singapore since this mess started. He says, it's Alas Babylon time. (Pat Frank's book)
They are because Americans really do not know how anything Works aside from what they are told they'll find out but you know who does know Black people Black people know have known will know always know
"Found by the reporter in an Ohio diner, this 27 year old disenchanted young white man explains the logistics of international shipping and tarriffs. He is for both of them and is also uneasy about too much melanin."
Lots of people out there for whom shipping is a big ol’ part of their working lives. Like me, for instance.
1. Doesn’t make them experts.
2. NO ONE is an expert on what happens in shipping once the rulebook is thrown out and a maniac is locked inside the control room for another four years.
Been in Logistics over 30 years & this is the most f**ked up 💩 I’ve ever seen! & yes, I’m involved in international shipping & receiving too. There is no blueprint to follow for this!
International commercial law was a painful eye opener that I'll never wish to do again. Anyone who wants to become an expert in that field will be just as painful, fake or real
hate to see my field being infiltrated like this. i have been a fake global shipping expert for years now, in sun and snow, now these new-school fake experts are flooding the market and putting me out of a fake job!!
there is not a single person alive right now, capable of faking being a global shipping expert, who didn't live through a global shipping crisis just 5 years ago.
we are all experts and we should all be angry about government officials manufacturing the conditions for this to repeat.
I am set to receive my advanced degree in Social Media International Freight Logistics any day now, which shall share wall space in my office with my degrees in Social Media Virology, Public Health, Political Science, Election Law, and Midwest Emo
All the experts will be the same talking heads we always see on the legacy news channels. They're experts on everything these days. Saves them the money of actually having real experts on to give insight.
Worked with a merchant marine. His stripper WIFE stole one of his favorite cars. He hunted it down, beat both doors in so she couldn’t open them. Drove back home. Never said word to any of us. We found out when SHE pulled up days later. Raising hell. Broke out the back window to drive it. Wild times
It's from WHERE they go. A ship with the same stuff from Sth Korea lands costing 245% less than a ship with the same stuff that comes from China. My money is invested in a little factory that makes " Made in Sth Korea" stickers.
Even the folks running it don't have a clue as this is a shitshow inside a clusterfuck. No ships in LA, Bay area, Portland or Seattle...and line of ships in Vancouver. You don't need to be an expert to know that's bad.
I worked at a third party logistic company after the 2008 recession, in that recession we actually exported a lot since the dollar was cheaper, so I was really busy...... it seems like that part of the equation isn't happening again which is even crazier.
You could talk to me. I sailed containerships for 30 years. People see an empty dock and they panic. I remind them that a dock has to be empty to receive the next ship and is not necessarily a reason to panic. Sadly, there are plenty of reasons to panic.
In Jan/Feb 2020 I was irl connected to biochemists who kept me as informed as possible and appropriately alarmed, so I was able to have my 3-generation household somewhat prepared and quarantined early.
This time, none of my friends know jack shit about supply chains, so fuck if I know rn...
I’m on season 2 of a rewatch of the Wire so my expertise is unparalleled:
Only one ship a day means the dockworkers will be selling heroin to make ends meet and it’s harder to get the trafficked women from inside the cans.
Whole lot of places in Sth Korea gonna suddenly start shipping stuff that looks strangely Chinese made. --- Except, these stupid tariffs ain't gonna last that long.
🤦They're going to take Chinese made stuff, and put 'Made in Sth Korea' stickers on it. Then ship it as from Sth Korea, to avoid the tax, was my point. Hence ' it will oddly look like it was made in China'...
It's an ironic joke about becoming a shipping expert!!?? Move the shit to somewhere that doesn't attract a tariff, pretend it's from there, and ship it from there. It's an old trick. Nothing changes except the shipping route and the sticker detailing where it was made.
It's the same experts as the vaccine experts, autism experts, COVID experts, education experts, etc!! There's nothing they won't claim as their expertise.
I have a buddy who owns an import export business in Seattle. I just need to look at his face and that tells me everything I need to know about what a massive clusterfuck we're about to be in.
It's like climate change .. everyone who knows how things work has told the people in power, "This is bad. Act now" and they just can't bring themselves to do it until it's already too late

Everybody knows, with Trump at the helm, every ship turns into the Titanic.
No ships. These normally busy ports are dead quiet. Empty. All ya need to know.
we are all experts and we should all be angry about government officials manufacturing the conditions for this to repeat.
i'm on a list simply for existing.
being 'one of the good ones' isn't going to save me from the camps.
