If you want to eat the most expensive eggs you’ve ever had in your life, you should have backyard chickens.
Don’t get me wrong, I love them and have raised them, but they are an expensive hobby.

Rump can suck an egg.
On a different note, does everyone own at least one Subaru?
It can get your backyard chickens as easily as it can farm chickens.
It's another Donny Antoinette moment

😅
I love chickens, hens
They have their own personalities
They are wonderful!
And they need care

I can assure you that I would NOT have thought that was funny when I was having hot flashes and living on an emotional rollercoaster. Nothing was funny- unless I decided it was, god damn it!
The rooster was so mean I had to keep a plastic baby gate between us at all times though. 😳
I prepare for storms early.
their sheep and goats lived with them!
I've heard from coworkers . . !
Coops
Seed
Vet bills
Fencing
Plus more
It adds up.
What an irresponsible suggestion from the administration
The Doormen can feed the chickens / collect the eggs.
We'll get a cow 4 milk.
The koi pond we'll restock w/ salmon.
Thanksgiving could be an issue if everyone wants their own turkey (it's a big building!).
Will the Jewish neighbors be OK w/ my lobby pig?
I was ever thankful to be rid of the roosters!
did you hear that guys? our problems are solved!
just raise chickens you cant afford on the land you dont own in a country that requires you to take out a business loan to do either!
Not cheap to raise chickens in your backyard; nope.
funds that most americans unable to afford groceries, NATURALLY cant afford.
the biggest issue i think at the moment is that were looking at these "most powerful people in the world"
If you want to eat the most expensive fish in your life, go buy a boat.
Same with growing food in the yard, changing your own oil pump, or writing your own operating system.
The predators, however, will be waiting for the first chance to meet your chickens

I LOVE my backyard flock, but they are tiny little designer raptors, as far as I’m concerned. 😂
Hahaha, those were innocent times. 😂
Four hens is typical limit in cities. After 3 yrs: butcher 2, replace. Then, you should get 2-4 eggs a day.
Clean-out: 3 months; none in winter.
Excellent points BTW
Show your respect to these assholes.
While the Secretary giggles about raising our own chickens, she and Musk have been firing the scientists whose life's work is to solve problems like this for all of us.
Migratory birds: Wild birds, especially waterfowl, can spread the virus to other birds and to other parts of the world. Backyard poultry arent immune!
So this isn’t a good reason to not have backyard chickens. In fact, free range birds are healthier and resistant, it’s the million bird crowded flocks.
1 day I reached in for the eggs w/o looking & closed my hand around a big ole snake inside.
Luckily it was a rat snake so I just picked up the carrier & took it farther into my woods.
Unbelievably ignorant statement from the AG head to make.
If the point is to eat eggs, then I think that raising them is a viable solution. Otherwise, you likely wouldn’t have raised them for 50 years.
Have also seen many try it that live in the country.
They no longer are.
Again it's a hobby for 99%.
There are alternatives for people in high rises as you put it. Such as quail
What I’m saying is that food is about to get a lot more expensive and for everyone’s safety it might be wise to grow your own food wherever possible.
Where can I get my tree?
Do they not know that with bird flu ravaging the country, decentralising chickens will help spread it?
Do they know ANYTHING about what they are suggesting?
You're still on your own when it comes to Bird Flu in your backyard flock...good luck with that!
Watching roosters you realize that, sadly, rape is the norm in nature. Sad.
It's fun to watch the roosters fight. They will lay down their lives for their hens: I've seen this several times.
Imagine every household in NYC with 2 or 3 chickens somehow. (That's the MINIMUM number for healthy birds. ) Then imagine BIRD FLU getting a foothold.
Stand up & fight.

Assuming feed costs don't just skyrocket too.
And discounting your own time/labor.
So theres a new thing.
Stealing chickens.
