relevant: nu metal is making a comeback, but IMO that's in large part because it's hip hop for white kids who like metal and the goth girls sometimes imbibe and they draw everyone in.
Solomon, I need to introduce you to @eve6.bsky.social. He likes putting his feelings into a blender and believes that alternative rock can lead us to world peace.
It's a quarter century later and you can share all the music you want and artists are still getting fucked. Metallica was right. They saw what was coming.
When white people stopped head banging our politics started to suck … it’s because you are not moving your brain around in your skulls …. You need to do this
James Hetfield was my inspiration to pick up the guitar back in 1986 at age 14. I spent years trying to learn the techniques he used on those early albums. It helped me spawn a musical career, where I've been lucky enough to play live in front of thousands, and make records with some of the best.
Honestly the Saltine-Americans have outsourced putting their whole foot in it to Alabama’s own Jason Isbell (“Alabama Pines” hits different when you grew up an exit away from Wayne’s. IYKYK)
Look you’re blaming the kids when it’s my moldy generation that made and had all the hardest punk and metal. And still 2/3 of us are demented conservatives with little correlation to musical preferences.

Went to a hardcore show the other night. Some of *those* types tried (and i can't emphasize "tried" enough) to come in, and I haven't seen an immediate coming together to "solve" the situation like that since the early 90s. It was brutal and beautiful and inspiring, if I'm honest.
Streaming has killed bands and groups. Solo artists can’t get buy strictly on streaming.
Forget splitting that fraction of a penny between a singer, drummer, bass, keyboard etc.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the 08 Recession and specifically the housing crash, is *directly* responsible for killing at least 2 generations of actual garage bands.
Parents couldn’t afford garages or instruments. Now we got a bunch of mumble rappers and DJs since that was affordable
This AND streaming has killed bands and groups.
Streaming pays a fraction or what sales used to. Then you have to split that penny between a singer, guitarist, bass, keyboard… OR
Split between Kelly, Michelle and Beyonce!? This gen doesn’t have bands or groups anymore!!! (Outside of KPop)
This is where the monetization of YouTube, Twitch and Gaming in general has led. The kids aren’t gonna learn 4 chords when they can make hundreds of thousands playing Fortnite
Only if they are renters (as I have sorely discovered). Not only does my HOA ignore my pleas for violation enforcement & try their best to discriminate against permanent resident HOMEowners, they actually ENCOURAGE investors & renters.
My place is at 63% rentals w/no intent to stop.
It’s whatever, half the group is white and ngl we probably account for the majority of their record sales. And they were influenced by a lot of white guys
1) True I think you're onto something here
2) Jacob is a treasure trove of comedy
3) I don't know how they picked the MOST perfect outfit for Sheryl Lee Ralph's character but it is absolutely pearl trimmed leisure wear.
I truly believe that the downfall of our society can be traced to the downfall of the Tony Hawk games, because those soundtracks helped keep society THRIVING
not to “housing theory of everything” but we need a housing boom in this country so 23 year olds can live in scumbag houses with garages and innovate in this space

This is the band that took down music sharing.
Not a hero.
