Doesn’t matter. Whether you like it or not (I don’t), Trump and his band of ignorant misfits control all three branches of government. Not by much, but enough to do a lot of damage.
While I've looked it up, I need more clarity on mandates. This was a razor close election, even the Senate doesn't indicate any sort of landslide. What exactly is a mandate and what privileges or "extras" does the incoming president have if there was one?
You get bragging rights, and you get to pressure Congress to bend to your will, because you won a national vote (and they all won only local or state votes). It's usually convincing enough to get one (or maybe two) initiatives passed. For Biden it was infrastructure, chips, and IRA green.
If Democratic institutions hold, there are consequences for overstating your mandate and over-reaching. This is part of the reason there is so much zig-zagging policies from the top. The career employees do their best to keep things stable and dependable within the chaos.
NY overall is Blue. Unfortunately, where Elise is from is undeniably red. Under educated and vote on one vs multiple topics. I hope it flips but not convinced the area would go blue.
I overheard a conversation at the VA other day that almost turned into a fistfight. Vets who retired from the military and also received social security, will have their social security reduced by the amount of their pension. This will affect any public servant positions. Police, fireman, teachers.
Yes, it's a talking point to try to bend circumstances to your will (for as long as it lasts), then the campaigning starts again. The career employees then carry on with whatever got passed and makes the best of it.
Obviously, not a landslide but rather a very close election (like the last two). Trump always lies about elections and crowd size. Still, the GOP took the Senate, held the House, and won the White House. Of course, they will view that as a mandate, as any party would.
MAGATs wouldn't believe this anyway! They don't do Facts or Figures. As long as Petrol and Egg prices are low. That's all they care about, and not the reasons why!
No thought on actual facts, No thought on historical data. Just what their pea shaped brains think about.
Okay, they definitely don’t care about facts. What concerns me is ideals, principles & rule of law seem to be at the bottom of the list for trump loyalists. What does that say about half of voting Americans?
They have been sucked in Grace. They have believed the lies. Again. There's also the 'incumbent effect ' in play here. We are seeing quite a few Administrations in Power losing the will of the people. Worldwide. Honestly Americans are still putting the price of their goods and what they spend first.
Before Politics and Democracy. Even though there is clear evidence of Biden trying to turn the Economy around. They just didn't hear it. Or they relied on Fox News to decide the vote for them.
America was great back when math worked and words had commonly understood meanings.
Now we 2nd place wins, 49% majority landslides and 215# sperm whales.*

Any research on how much gerrmandering affected the results? That's a huge threat to democracy. I find it more troublesome than any other single thing.
What difference does it make? He won the electoral college, and that's all that counts. Yes, he's bragging that it was a landslide--he also claims he's 6' 4" and that he's a genius. Don't let him get under your skin. Use your energy for more important things.
Something to think about for next time: 90,308,413 eligible US voters chose to *do nothing* or “stay home” (using UFla number of 244,666,890 eligible voters). Many more than those who voted for either Trump (76,917,038) or Harris (74,441,439). So, none of the above, and none of the fringe candidates
I think this talk of, "landslide:" is them looking at the electoral college results and this idea that, "I won all the battleground states". They know the raw numbers don't support the narrative.
Yeh, even if Trump did win the election the idea that it is some massive mandate to do what he likes doesn't really measure up. When Obama and Biden won by bigger amounts the GOP didn't say that this was a mandate for them to do what they liked. But the media keeps up this idea of a massive victory.
Anyone that retains their X or Twitter account, or even better a Trump Social account needs to continually spam this into those platforms. Also spam them direct into all the MSM to shame them for not reporting it properly
Cheaters that “win” really don’t win. History will paint an accurate picture- a weak ignorant traitor who attained presidencies via Putini & Russian interference in US elections.
I am thankful that his time is almost up!

Somehow, it's reassuring to know that Nixon won by an actual "landslide" in 1972, yet the facts caught up with him quickly enough to be out of office less than 2 years later.
Hello, I'm Eva from the US ♥ I hope you are well? I have a friend from Gaza🇵🇸 named Rana, who is adopted. She and her family suffer from difficult challenges in the war and go to bed hungry due to the lack of flour. Donate even a little to save flour. Its price is $300 🥺🙏🏻 https://gofund.me/75862933
But, in fairness, it was larger than his last win, which was underwater on the popular vote. I think the narrow margin in the House is a better measure of how evenly divided the electorate is. We have two years to strengthen local politics and take back the House. Don't despair.

Considering 62.5% of the voters turned out to vote, Trump's 1.7% shrinks to 1.12% of eligible voters.
It also means that he's running on a mandate from 31% of voters, so not nearly the landslide he claims it is.
Trump popular vote 2024-11-28
Harris (D)
74,564,077
48.4%
Trump (R)
77,034,326
50%
And, so was that margin, eh?
I am thankful that his time is almost up!

Misinformation is spreading rapidly all over the globe
Thankful for your important voice.
6M ppl stayed home. And now the world is stuck with Donny.
What did they not like about her? What was it that turned them off so much to not vote at all?
Being at the bottom in 2016 with a negative number is icing on the cake of loathing many feel.
