The trump regime has ordered thousands of federal workers back to offices that either don’t exist or are run down because of Republican cuts. The goal is to demoralize civil servants. They have no idea who they’re messing with.

I've also been told (can't speak for millions) to bring in all issued telework equipment. I can't say how much $ was spent ensuring people could work from home and maintain the same level of output, which will drop once we're all sucking the same bandwidth.
Um. Civil servants? Who've failed to prevent the world's worst conman and a bunch of YouTube drunks seize power while they collected paychecks that shadow those of the average American?
Yeah, us. The ones quietly making sure your mail is delivered, your troops get trained on how to use their expensive equipment, your schools, hospitals, and food stay up to standard.
And my guess is that the majority of these are 1099 subcontractors who get paid by the job, not the hour and they will probably not renew their contracts if they're not allowed to work from home.
It's a naked coup. But how they're treating the U.S. government works is a National Dsigrace and a crime. Want to cut spending? Why not start with military contracting and the massive subsidies given to the EV, big tech, and oil and gas industries?
There needs to be some balance of these workers that hold the line and others that leave. Manpower is already an issue for feds so work will simply not get done meaning this insane agenda goes nowhere. Actually it was an incredibly stupid way to do things. You need the competent people to do things.
A friend who deals with very sensitive economic data is not legally allowed to work in the same room as others who aren’t cleared. They’re sending her back to an open office with so many people they’ll be sharing desks.
Same will be happening with health information. Confidential conversations and assessments about suicide, depression, STI’s, rashes, impotence, etc….things people won’t talk about if others can hear/see (phone/tele-health).
💯 right on. Demoralization is the goal. Musk is creating the waste they claim to look for.
Gov employees are the foundation of the nation. A consistent boring stable structure that our nation functions on top of.
Yes! Telling everyone they can't work from home/must work at the office - but also sending out directives that agencies must cancel all office leases? What a bunch of sadistic idiots.
Tech bros wouldn’t last a week in a building built in the Eisenhower administration with Nixon era carpet, Clinton era paint, and no food, alcohol or drugs on demand. They are too soft for that.
My first federal office in 2001 was a broom closet in Rockville. Since Covid, most agencies have been downsizing their office spaces since they found out people were more productive working from home and they didn’t have to pay for office space and public transportation costs for us.
I've worked a few federal jobs in my life, currently working for state. I'll look for federal again as soon as the hiring restarts, we'll need every pair of hands to repair what he's breaking. I'm ready for it.
Watching CNN tonight, I've got to say, I'm tired of the defense of "74 million" people voted for him. In a country of 350 million, it is perfectly feasible, that 74 million people are stupid.
Not to mention there were a lot of shenanigans during the election that makes the result questionable if not flat out invalid. Voter roll purges, bomb threats at certain polling locations, lawsuits, etc. Results from the involved states should have been objected to, even if only to delay things.
1) Yeah of course. There's NO WAY anyone can tell me, with his rallies getting smaller, no one showing up at his trials when there was supposed to be a riot for him being brought to court, Republicans left the party and threw support behind Democrats, etc that he won an election TRIFECTA (HOUSE,
2) SENATE) AND WON THE POPULAR VOTE?! It definitely was rigged. But the Dems are too soft. They don't want to be election deniers like the right, and surely cause civil unrest. But we're already on the path to that. And it's REMARKABLE that after the Nazi salute, to name ONE, they STILL get a
3) crowd behind them at the microphone to show outrage AND NOT ONE WILL CALL HIM AND HIS SUPPORTERS RACIST! WTF ARE THEY WAITING ON? My stomach turned with Shumer leading the protest. I don't think he could show you the proper anger if you slap his face. They're SO WEAK, but all we've got.
I’ll never understand why there wasn’t a simple hand recount in swing states where bomb threats & tabulator glitches occurred.
Especially since election software was stolen & distributed in 2021. Dominion put out a security patch but here in GA, SOS didn’t apply it until AFTER the election.😳
Because DEMOCRATS ARE WEAK, but all we've got. And that Will be my attitude until they show me something. I dislike them both today. Democrats and Republicans, almost equally but for different reasons. Shumer leading the charge turned my stomach. He couldn't give you the proper anger if you slap him
They must be, right? He and the Republicans have been giving them layups his whole time! And they couldn't capitalize on ONE!! Not even the recent NAZI SALUTE!
A recount wouldn't have helped, most likely. Not in the bomb threat and purge cases, at least. This is why we need automatic voter registration and universal vote by mail.
I’m basing that on what a professional hacker & Free Speech For People said. They said a hand recount would expose manipulation in the swing state anomalies, which is where bomb threats, etc., occurred.
I do not understand why Democrats did not demand audits.
They may have thought that term 2 would be like last term was. It is not.
You do not write a 900 page plan and decide not to use it.
Last time, the Trump administration destroyed the election results the day they could. The deadline is 6 months, I believe. But first, there must be credible evidence - meaning in this political environment, none will be found.
You're probably right, but what kills me is they are WALKING CREDIBLE EVIDENCE BEINGS. They have done everything on TV, for the country to see, told you what they would do, there's TONS of video of hypocrisy, but Democrats are weak, and courts won't enforce.
#2: The employee is in their mid-to-late 40s or early 50s. They need to put in at least 5 years so they can carry the health insurance for themselves and their spouse into retirement, have a small pension, and access to the Thrift Savings Plan.
Or, you can make it your career.
What usually happens is one of two scenarios:
1. The employee is just out of college and works for the agency for a few years (3-5). Then goes out to the private sector and makes twice the salary as a public servant.
Telework is so efffective that if Musk wanted to save money, he would encourage federal workers to work from home and save billions in U.S. General Services Administration building & office space leases. Then include $ saved from utilities.
Also keep in mind where the Fanta fascist’s personal financial base is; real estate. He banked off charging the Secret Service to stay in his own hotels the last time, and this time he’s attempting illegal enrichment via office space. The gov’t will have to lease/rent from “someone” after all.
My co-worker has an aunt in south Texas that works for the VA. They have been working from home for forever. They have now been forced back to basically a one-room office (no ADA compliances) and have to work on top of each other.
Millions of dollars in renovations will be needed to support this RTO effort I'd bet.
I've worked with companies that have implemented it and it isn't cheap, especially at this scale. The logistics behind the whole operation is a pain too, and that's with months of planning, not days.
Hoping someone can better articulate the waste, fraud, and abuse this E.O. will cause. This E.O. only serves to make commercial property owners richer.
I'm a retired VA nurse and we are so use to the Government just fucking us. Between 2 6 week furlough non paid for 6 weeks VIAGRA BUT NOT BCP. AND FOR ALL THIS WE ARE STILL THE WORSE PAID NURSES IN TOWN. LEAVE NOW
His press secretary referred to wfh employees as ripping of the American people... When really the govt is ripping them off. They pay for their own office space, utilities, Internet etc. not to mention that the vast majority of wfh people will stay past 5 or work through lunch to complete a task
Fed Employee: "I'm here. I'm reporting back to work."
Man: "This is a Subway shop."
Fed Employee: Huh? What should I do?"
Man: "Grab an apron. The kids from DOGE will be here for their lunch break soon. Can you cut some cheese?"
Fed Employee: "Oh, yeah. As soon as a DOGE kid comes into the store."
The clinical resource hubs Across the VA providing critical Mental Health care asked for an exemption because all of the therapists that work for the clinical resource hubs in the VA are virtual. They were told no. We're going to lose the therapist, and because of that we're going to lose veterans.
Haven’t the PPL of United States of America
had enough of the Shadow-Emperor Elon n his cronies’ behaviors of Loose Cannons on USA govt n Agencies yet….
Some are, they actually believe they're going to get 8 months of pay lol. We had a heated staff meeting on Thursday. I had to point out that the govt is only funded till March, and drumpf doesn't have the authority to pay them.
The Dump regime needs to realize that they are dealing with adults not, nitwits whose brains or not fully formed as of yet(if ever). Keep up the Good Fight.
They are going to have to lease new space for the VA and all its providers. An expensive and long process as the VA and GSA have exacting standards for healthcare facilities.
The spouse of my spouse's work friend has been told to return to the office after wfh for many years. He has no idea what office, if he will have a computer, no details and no one knows what is going on.
Watch Lincoln projects new Chaos Monkey, Rick Wilson talks about this, go to the senators and reps offices and demand to know all the data that's been stolen, everyone one individually needs to go. It will have a huge effect, it won't be one, it will be many over and over. Dem and Repub alike.
Good strategies and directives. I think trump and musk are much deeper together than we know. Lots of shady deals there. Trump doesn't care about his popularity or voting. He's destroying democracy now to build their billionaires paradise. Free from minorities.
Stressed out federal civil servant here. I am so unbelievably frustrated with the lack of coverage by large news outlets (e.g., NYT). What media outlets ARE covering this? (Besides you, and thank you for ur service).
I'm afraid that is a real problem. A German friend wrote with one in Texas last night & asked what did they think about the terrible news coming out of the US, and the person said, "What terrible news?"
But the longer you hold out, make noise, protest, boycott, the harder it will be to ignore.
The other thing the media isn’t reporting is what Democrats in office are doing. Following elected Democrats directly & amplifying what they report (& a lot is about federal workers) is helpful—& of course following federal workers posting on Reddit to share virally, too.
That’s bc th big media outlets r both controlled by wealthy owners, and, have sold out to DT, lock, stock and barrel. No longer do they represent fair and balanced journalism; they are the whores of DT to do his bidding as he wishes. In short they have bcm no different than th media in Russia.
I am outraged for you. I think we have to help raise awareness (I have stopped myself a couple of times this week from just breezing past ignorant posts from acquaintances on FB, realizing that I have to engage—if not me, then who?) But also we have to amplify outlets getting it right — e.g., WIRED
A friend's daughterhas been ordered, with 700 other employees accross the country to return to an office in Virginia which only has office space for the 40 senior employees there.
These were veterans recruited &hired for Tele jobs.
I think they should all show up with their deactivated laptops.
The tech bros are not as forward thinking as they believed themselves to be.
A friend’s father was elated that the man he voted for gave him an early ‘buyout’ so he can retire with dignity only to get an email a few days later telling him his position was ineligible for the deal. He feels betrayed
Like government employees were working in state of the art buildings before all this, the USDA building was designed by an architect that designed the first federal prisons. They put down tape on the floors for a "track" 7 laps around one floor on the track was a mile. You know work life balance.
Our regional office has space for 14 people and there’s 77 workers. The director told me they’d find a way and shrugged their shoulders. We believe in the good work we are doing. We uphold our oaths. We’re not phased, bring it on. Hold the line.
TIME TO BRING THE SIT-IN BACK IN A HUGE WAY!
EVERY SINGLE GOVERNMENT BUILDING! EVERY ONE!
The history:
The San Francisco federal building sit-in, the only one that endured, lasted 28 days. It began with a rally outside the federal building, then inside, where people REMAINED.
If we are all about back to the office I am sure Trump will in the white house 24/7 and not shanking golf balls in the pond 5 days a week at Maro Largo
This is great but you have JD Vance right behind this dictator, ready and willing to take his spot. Tech bros, project 25 and Christian nationalists all in bed together with this plan to destroy democracy and there's millions of them
They are forcing some of us to return to offices hundreds of miles away, even if those weren’t our original duty locations, or making us resign. And there is not sufficient time to make decisions. In cases like mine, the govt will pay higher locality if I move. So much efficiency! 🙄
They want to kill their morale. It has nothing to do with them doing the same shit they did on their work station at home than they did in some crusty overpriced office space.
I know several who were ordered back - they don’t have a physical office so space is being made and the commutes are super long. They’ve also mentioned (rumor?) that they should anticipate being ordered to work in DC soon. Have you heard this? Seems like an option to pressure resignations.
His freakin' wife got sick of him and divorced him. I'm guessing that's not helping. Can anybody take one for the team and give him a little something? It might help his mood.
Would like to see some reporting on that divorce. Court papers, anyone? According to the Google, she's works with people with disabilities. Imagine being a good person married to that hateful lunatic.
I looked, but Virginia doesn't provide a narrative of each appearance. It went pretty quickly, though. It only took a few months. And looking at all the things she accomplished, she clearly outshines him. Some men just can't handle that. 🤷♀️
I looked, but couldn't find anything. My research skills aren't as sharp as they used to be. Bacterial meningitis and severe sepsis will do that. I've thought there's something more here, too. But I couldn't find anything. She's a Saint for being married to him.
I'm here to tell you that if you're a federal worker, your traumatized by the system. This is hard and this is scary but working for the government is no easy walk. Federal workers are tough bunch and most of them are going to pull together.
If I had any tech or graphic skills, I would create photos of the entire cabinet and Republican leadership as dicks with some slightly defining feature..like trump would be orange, Patel would have crazy eyes, bondi would have blond hair, etc
Oooh that one is the Jamie Dimon playbook. Require people to return to office but make is so unappealing that a portion of workers quit. Saves money on severance.
The fact that people who have to return to the office need office space (and desks and phones) seems like something even Trump would understand. But apparently not.
Ah yes, the classic GOP strategy: gut the system, break everything, then blame the workers. Too bad they underestimated the fact that civil servants aren’t just gonna roll over—they’re gonna Hold The Line while these clowns trip over their own incompetence.
Is it just demoralizing workers? Bringing all those remote workers into office space seems like a dream scenario for a real estate developer. Follow the money.
I worked at a national lab that had seen better days. We worked in buildings built in the 50’s, had rats & mice everywhere (one ran across my keyboard) and many had to be remediated for lead & asbestos. It was hot in the summer & freezing in the cold. Feds are tough & have seen things!
So, a convicted felon and a billionaire became best friends and try to take over the world by hiring a guy with a worm in his brain, a retired football player, and the the mean girl from Catholic high school who didn’t study geography.
Lord help us. 🙏🏼
#MAGA #Resist
Have you seen the fuckery they have to deal with? I have been in a DMV and I am in there yes ma’am, no ma’am. I am not trying a government employee that has been recalled to an office for a good 12 months.
Child of a Fed retired career fed here they have no clue who they are messing with federal employees career federal employees are a different breed especially here in Maryland
I am joining my union. And I learned that a dozen doctors joined the union at my location in the last two weeks. They are messing with the wrong workforce. We are going to kick their fascist asses.
“A second type of simple sabotage requires no destructive tools whatsoever and produces physical damage, if any, by highly indirect means. It is based on universal opportunities to make faulty decisions...”
Even if the facilities exist and are updated, there isn't any space for employees to return to. That was one of the reasons telework was previously approved.
It's time for us to hold the Flag, especially during protests. There's no way to misconstrue our love for this country and democracy at this point. It's obvious the Right are no patriots.
It would have been so much simpler if they'd all have gone to Hungary to see how they do things first. Some would have woken up and the rest could have stayed there. We really need a year's service in something like the Peace Corps as a graduation requirement in this country. Travel is good for you.
dedicated civil servants in my family: a favorite aunt, kind brilliant old school republican, is rolling in her grave. She had a nosy security guard thrown out of the Bureau of Labor Statistics once so I can imagine her reaction to Elon’s non-credentialed, unvetted technospawn. God help them.
Those who believe this is a farce, ACT. Trumusk is just cutting jobs on a whim. They are doing this to meet a 5% quota. What businessmen takes an axe to his business to save money. Stand Together & Everyone Act on 2/11
I know someone who is in this situation. No office to return to. I think he should force the G to lease one for him. Close to his house, so they can see how absurd it would be to have him take his laptop to the office and do exactly what he would have at home. But he would be in an office. Alone.
I think those without offices should sit on the floor or a chair in The Capitol with their laptops at hand.
Helluva statement, amazing photo op to shine a light on the ridiculousness of the demand.
Can we count on ANY Repug members of Congress waking up and getting off of Trump's train EVER? Or are they counting on his promise that no one will ever need to vote again?
I know these bastards, they loath civil servants, because their core values are greed and ambition. They cannot phantom the idea that someone could take pride in public service, making a difference in the lives of others. They see that as weak, despicable and lazy.
They should all show up and if there’s no building there, sit there.. bring some lunch bring some crochet… Bring your laptop. There’s nothing to plug it into that way. They can’t say you did didn’t go.
1) Require 1000’s of gov’t workers to RTO
2) During/after COVID, many offices remodeled, downsized or just plain closed
3) GSA is being ordered to cancel some 7500 leases
4) Some gov’t offices are setting up tables in hallways for staff RTO
5) “Fork in the Road” didn’t get the expected response
Definitely going back the way. I don’t even mind hybrid working. Not many people bought a home with an office, but some autocrats seem to forget that people had to adapt. Only people WFH doesn’t suit is real estate and paranoid bosses
This is our situation. We literally were told on Tues to be back on Monday. All we have is a table not even the drops for internet. No storage, no supplies, nothing.
I have a stupid question! Are all federal workers Democrats? How about Dept of Ed all Democrats? How about Medicaid all Democrats? Are we going to see any OUTRAGE?
I’m not always going to celebrate “wins.” I may not be gung ho about calling DC politicians or marching down the street with cool signs. I am convinced we will win when we truly rise and our numbers are still too small. The road will be long no matter what, but as the pain grows, so will our numbers
I've been reading some of the 'fed workers' forums and there are thousands of posts all telling everyone to Hold The Line, and they are encouraging each other almost hourly through this hell. It's uplifting to me to see the strength they're all showing.
I'm not a fed employee so I don't feel that I should comment in these forums. I have read-only access, and I'm learning a lot about our institutions from these people—how intricate the work is and the level of detailed work and skill they perform.
All the times republicans told various workers (truckers, farmers, blue collar workers), military personnel, veterans and religious people that we all hate them and want them gone. Maybe they'll finally see who's watching out for whom.
I have family members, close friends, and their family members, who are federal employees, and they are very open with one another in their discussions about refusing the FORK option (early buyout) - refusing the option. They are very concerned about effects on pensions, RIFs, etc.
I’m a federal employee. I’m dedicated to my work and am staying until they force me out. It’s a dark, scary time; I’m so scared about losing my job and what that would mean for my kids. Comments like yours really lift my spirit. Thank you.
It is a very scary time, I'm also worried about you & your kids, & everyone who's in the same situation. I'm thinking about you guys constantly and I'm also so impressed by your resiliency to power through this each day. I have no words of advice b/c I've never experienced a coup, you're amazing tho

Aren't they a stubborn crew, some by the books? I've only work in the private sector but have family members in the public sector. They are all about the rules.

"certain urinary analysis recordings" from previous trips to Russia,Russia Russia.
But the reason will be because there will not be enough space or equipment to house/equipt all workers and they won't HAVE THE ABILITY to do any work.

People who want to coast and have an easy job go work in the private sector while people in government jobs are notoriously hard working.
It’s a shame this is how they get rewarded.
Or, you can make it your career.
