Sir Topham Hatt is no rail baron, He cares for his workers and puts their needs first. He gives his engines free food & water, room & board, and safety from a genocide, & basically anything else they could ever want or need at his own cost, just as long as they put in the work for the railway.
Sir Topham Hatt also gives his engine time off when they ask for, & when he sees that they need it. He treats the engines not as employees, but as his children, and a father does what’s best for his children.
So a bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine character accounts all got created after my post about debate bros featuring a scene from the show went up yesterday, & now these train accounts are dunking on me & standing up for their crew. In my business, that’s a little thing we like to call, policy impact.
Report and block every single one of them. Though we can't see all that's being done way up there in the clouds, I certainly agree the BlueSky team still seems a bit green on protection.
90% of the time people role playing as children's show characters are fine and the other 10% of the time they really, really are not fine and I don't think you really want to know more detail than that. (In my professional opinion these ones are probably the 90%, but.)
I did put these ones on my "it's hinky" list: RP accounts are fine and all, but reaching outside the network to "jokingly" harass people can be a really bad sign
One of my children was very enthusiastic about trains and I spent a good deal of time reading the original Thomas stories. So I have to do the stupidest "well actually" of all time: for the vast majority of the series Hatt was a public employee of nationalized rail, a controller not a rail baron
Topham is not a Rail Baron he runs a tiny little 25 miles Railroad, he isn't a rail Baron unless he owns 3 railroads covering at least a Thousand miles from the Great Lakes to the Pacific
Word is he met the jolly prankster Lowham Hatt, Topham's twin at a pub and Lowham pretended to be Topham. So Ringo thought he was working for a cool dude instead of The Man.
Topham Hatt is only a 'rail baron' in the first two books (1945/6), in which he is The Fat Director. All the other Awdry books were written after nationalisation in 1948 which is why from "James the Red Engine" onwards his title changes to The Fat Controller. He's running a nationalised industry.
And me. Mine seemed to watch it endlessly (or maybe it just felt like that). I liked Ringo's narration but that theme tune stayed in my head for years. In fact I'm a bit worried it's back now you've reminded me!

Like this is clearly someone(s) having fun in a very silly way I love it
These guys read entirely like shitposters, not...that other sort. Thankfully.

Glad he was convinced to go in a different direction, honestly... Henry's a good character (8 year old me thinks so, anyway)
Ringo's series still had stories about engines
The ones with the other theme tune had characters in the shape of trains
We watched a lot of the Ringo ones on Prime IIRC
