He really gives one of his best performances in The Intern. I still think De Niro is good even when he's phoning it in a bit, but he's really acting his ass off in the movie without being remotely showy about it.
absolutely, the same energy he brought to mean streets and taxi driver he brings to meet the parents. the man is nothing if not a professional. if you cant get some juice out of bobby thats on you as a director.
DeNiro is great in everything. 😁 I’ve had a terrible crush on him since the Godfather II came out I’m not a huge movie buff, so I don’t often crush on movie stars, but I make exceptions for DeNiro and Can Yaman. 😂😂
We watched (most) of the Intern as well as The Devil Wears Prada in my I/O Psych class which in hindsight considering how much class content I retained means it was basically Hathaway class.
The only part of the Irishman that I felt DeNiro could’ve done a different take on was when he was in his bedroom, on the phone, post Pacino shooting…would’ve loved to have seen him turn away from the “stiff upper lip” approach and expose that vulnerable underbelly.

DeNiro doing the DeNiro face while he does tai chi in the park kills me every time.
Might even rewatch Meet the Fockers or one of the Analyze movies.
I’m gonna miss that place.
