High Tide 🌊🐚 is in pre-production!!
Me and the team at Underdog are currently deciding on a bunch of things—but this one is something we’ve been batting back and forth on.
The question is simple: Wood or Bakelite?
Which material do you think feels more like a high quality product?

Is there a factor I’m forgetting? Maybe another material you might consider?
Not wood but not the high gloss finish of those tiles so you have some texture to it
The larger a painted wood tile gets the more I would worry about it chipping, warping or cracking.
Hive is better with bakelite with its few large pieces, and simple graphics.
Azul does well with the amount of agitation the pieces experience in the bag (my copy of Teotihuacan with the wood Pyramid pieces are experiencing chipping).
If there's hidden information, though, I prefer plastic because it's less likely to chip away and become marked.
I’m thinking of Qwirkle, and those are really thick wood. They feel more satisfying than the Azul tiles.
