I’m in Illinois and we have a lot of protections against any ICE / federal involvement. The plan is we don’t cooperate. They need a federal criminal warrant with a name on it to get any sort of cooperation. So, if someone has a warrant for murder (for example) we hand them over.

I’m a teacher in Des Moines Public schools, and we got that letter, I think it was on Thursday. It was a pretty lengthy and detailed email of who you should contact, but most of it was about who not to talk to. Don’t give legal advice to anybody and don’t talk to the press, blah blah blah.

From what I can gather, it's going to depend on local and state laws. Many states/cities have none, in which case this is going to be much more dangerous. School districts need pressure to issue statements to their staff and families and clarify the law in their area.

Please have any of your students whose families are not from the US or look like they might be immigrants give a COMPLETE contact list. Parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and any adults their family trusts to take them in. Every possible way to contact them. And don't keep it at school.

I posted this morning what street ICE was raiding in Wichita. I talked to my friend who works for Cornejo. They took her husband away in cuffs. She and their 2 small children are in a safehouse.
We are beyond outraged.

We have a number of meat packing plants, also construction and farming that are frequent employers. I’d say maybe 10%or so of our work force is immigrants we have growing immigrant communities. It’s just heart breaking. I’m furious.
