Well, Nikki DID overdose but was saved and got himself a new lease on life and a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted in his chest. No more booze or drugs for him.
I once asked why they keep reviving Nikki Six, and my dad said "If you are the paramedic that gets sent to his house, it's like an insult to your skills to not be able to do it. " it definitely made me chuckle.
Turns out Dr. Feelgood is actually a very competent GP and has been checking in on the boys for like 40 years, changing their oil and reupping their amlodipine and shit
Years ago I remember Rolling Stone did some kind of "through the decades" thing. With Richards winning "walking death" for the '60s '70s '80s '90s and I think that was some issue from the '90s.
I worked at an alternative therapy shop in the 90s. One day a national paper came out with an interview with Keith. He said our place was his favourite to visit to relax and detox. He had never been there. We never did find out why he said it! But we got new customers from it anyway!
This is especially impressive considering Nikki Sixx has technically died. Possibly twice, I can’t remember. The first time was an overdose and it took two hits of Epi to bring him back.
this also has a nugget of truth in that the drugs back then were just better chemically (more pure) whereas a bunch of my friends and favorite artists died from contemporary coke being tainted w/ fentanyl (mac miller, lil peep, etc)
Friend and I were at the Red Rock Casino on a Sunday back in 2016. We were using the washroom and I thought the guy in urinal beside me was a homeless guy.
It was Vince Neil.
Confirmed with local he hung out at the sports book there, being banned from most of the strip and all.
I think every member of the band nearly die, hell Kickstart my Heart was based on Bassist Nikki Sixx actually dying and getting defibrillation back to life
For real. Like I can believe the Stones have the cash to sustain their wrecked bodies, but it's hard to imagine most of those 80s glam bands having "new livers and kidneys for all" funds after like 1992
I hope so. They fucked him hard. Think of any Motley Crue song. The first thing you think of is the nasty guitar riff. Home sweet home is the one exception. Every other MC song is driven by a Mick Mars Riff.
He got real sick and couldn’t play so they got a new guy then the three other originals voted to kick him out of the company MC inc and take his 25% and split it amongst themselves. I forget the exact details but it was so wrong.
I saw Mick Marrs IRL when I worked for a music store in Nashville and I had to check that he's still around bc he was ancient then, and that was easily 15 yrs ago. He needed a crew, nurse and walker to get around the store!
Technically Nikki Sixx did die at least twice--once after shooting up with his dealer who panicked, beat Sixx with a bat to get him to "snap out of it", and put him in a dumpster where luckily Sixx woke up hours later.
Second time, 12/23/1987 when he was resuscitated by EMS after no VS for 2 mins.
I have the vinyl version of Shout at the Devil. Looking at the photo inside, I always thought the "accesories" were very conveniently located- possibly covering injection points.

How is that guy still alive?
But also: How the fuck is Duane Peters still alive?
