THIS!!! "NIH is flouting its statutory responsibilities by terminating so many grants with a dwindling opportunity to reallocate them which will result in a substantial portion of Congress’s appropriation going unspent" on pg 71- i encourage all with stake in matter to read the entire lawsuit.

I present… the thing that has been feasting on my (and my brilliant colleagues’) sanity: A very detailed look at Suzanne Humphries’s JRE episode open.substack.com/pub/deplatfo... open.substack.com/pub/deplatfo...

Another zoonotic (alpha) coronavirus. Closely related to the rodent virus AcCoV-JC34 that contains a putative furin cleavage site. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

What happened at HHS today was an act of terrorism that, if allowed to stand, will kill far more Americans than died on 9/11 and in the wars that followed.

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

These are the divisions eliminated in CDC. Apparently the man who claims he’s going to address chronic conditions does not want smoking or miner’s health addressed, or lead poisoning, to name just a few. Because he’s not really trying to address chronic illness. He just wants to remove vaccines.

So. Occam's razor is a valid principle. But it's very often misused, and this is a classic example. The common statement of Occam's razor is that the simplest explanation is usually the right one. In actuality, it's that the explanation requiring the fewest assumptions is the right one.

"This will go down as one of the darkest days in modern scientific history." Story on the decimation of NIH by @maxkozlov.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/d41...?

It's been a terrible day. Science has been gutted by a horrific purge of the NIH, CDC, and FDA; a purge I'm not sure we recover from anytime soon. But Senator Booker is a bright light reminding us darkness isn't a force - silence and inaction of good people allows the evil. Get into good trouble!

Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

Today is chaos. So many agencies are breaking down across the board from FDA to CDC to VA. Swaths of SSA are down. The American government is being hacked by the American government. Medical research, medicines, & social security accessibility are all questionable. It's only Tuesday.

NEW: Thousands of CDC employees who worked on things like preventing HIV and lead poisoning have been told they were subject to a reduction in force. Experts say people will die.

A hundred years ago, the average life expectancy was <50. Today, it is ~80. What made the difference? Public Health. Public health, however, is not some magic entity happening in a vacuum - it requires people. Without those people, there can be no Public Health. That serves no one. Wake up.

This last line sickens me more than anyting. "The case is due to be heard by a judge in Greenbelt, Maryland, on Friday." They are going to leave him in El Salvador until at least Friday. This seems like a case that should be in front of a judge in ten minutes.

Senator Booker: What kind of man is in the white house that makes fun of the disabled, who lies so much that the fact checkers lose count, that minimizes the pain and the suffering

Our April issue is now online: www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... Our journal is #OpenAccess, so you are free to explore all of our content. But these hashtags offer a flavour: #SARS-CoV-2 #COVID-19 #chikungunya #Neisseria #CHIM #mpox #BSI #Ecoli #Klebsiella #Mycoplasma #IDSky #ClinMicro #OA

#Medsky🧪 #IDSky #publichealth In PREVENT-19 trial ,the NVX-CoV2373 💉 was highly efficacious against #SARSCoV2 infection regardless of symptoms, indicating its potential to reduce the reservoir of infections that contribute to community transmission. #Vaccinework www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

The current #Measles vaccine is so much safer than wild or "natural" measles infection. The risks from natural infection are seen over and over again to be mainly concentrated among those who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated. link.springer.com/article/10.2...

In a proper country it would be a crime to knowingly harm children by practicing medicine without a license (and willfully lying to further a grift)

It's been a tossup on whether delay to the Reduction in Force, which was planned to begin on Friday, was intentional torment or incompetence. This article points to the latter, suggesting infighting might be the cause. #RIF www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

When people ask those yelling at Democrats to “do something” what they expect them to do, a pretty simple answer is have the courage to apply the laws that already exists. There is no excuse to let Musk do this and not arrest him. None. You’re just proving the laws don’t apply to people like him.

I am going through the Rogan episode with Suzanne Humphries to enumerate the comments made which are either erroneous or misleading and it is genuinely appalling that people will say things like this and others will believe them. Why do we have to live in an era where this is mainstream?

NIH has rescinded its scientific integrity policy. Hard to see this as anything other than clearing the way for shoddy research on things like vaccines. Regardless of the rationale, it's bad news for public health. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

China, Russia, Singapore, India and Malaysia are rushing teams and aid to Burma. This is soft power. It’s not just help for the sake of helping. This is the kind of power that sticks. This is the shit USAID did. Hard power builds defiance…soft power builds relationships. We are the bad guys

👀🫤 We have a duty of care. This is disgusting.

The reason Elon keeps doing these blatantly corrupt money giveaways to incentivize voting is because, again, no one is stopping him or holding him accountable. A democracy that refuses to do anything but assume everyone acts in good faith isn’t a democracy at all

The situation at the NIH and for all biomedical and cancer cure research in the United States is MUCH MUCH WORSE than you realize.

I’m not going to be able to tell you about the consequences of EVERY lost grant, but I’m going to try. Let’s start with the Antiviral Drug Discovery (AViDD) program for pathogens of pandemic concern! It just got unceremoniously shitcanned.

Cassava Sciences' controversial Alzheimer's drug fails in second late-stage study Quelle surprise (non quand on suit le travail de @elisabethbik.bsky.social on savait que c'était biteux). www.reuters.com/business/hea...

More heartless idiocy.

Get ready for more censorship, less dissent, less intellectual freedom, less funding for research in all areas, more prematurely ended careers, less biosafety, less health security, less preparedness, fewer vaccines, fewer jobs, & more dead people. thehill.com/policy/healt...

The NIH grant that has supported 38 years of training the best pediatrician-scientists in the country (I’m a proud former recipient) was cancelled. It was just approved for a 5 year renewal. The PSDP has supported the careers of many NIH-funded pediatrician-scientists and thought leaders

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

RFK Jr. has tapped a discredited researcher who once used leuprolide to chemically castrate autistic children based on a claim that this would address mercury toxicity that none of them had and is NOT treated by leuprolide to conduct a study of an association between vaccines and autism.

NIH and CDC cut grants related to COVID and other agents of pandemic potential. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt... 1/n

JUST BECAUSE THE CLOWN CAR GOES VERY FAST DOES NOT MEAN IT ISN’T FULL OF CLOWNS

Dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since the state banned abortion, our analysis shows. As the maternal mortality rate dropped nationally, it rose in Texas by 33%.

33% increase in Texas maternal mortality. Holy shit.

Heads must roll. This is one of the dumbest security breaches in history, and it suggests a larger pattern of potentially criminal behavior that puts Americans at risk.

The NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER added the EDITOR OF THE ATLANTIC to a PRINCIPALS COMMITTEE TEXT CHAIN set up for the DEFENSE SECRETARY about PLANNED MILITARY STRIKES. Here's a thread of involved parties talking about the need for secure communications (when Dems are involved):

i don't want to downplay or write off how dangerous they are, but i truly don't think it's possible to have elected dumber people to the highest levels of government. like if they were any stupider they wouldn't want the job
